Heh

I've been reading the SFWA comm (it's been like a really rowdy panel at a con), and the short version was one of their elected persons berating published authours who put their writing up on the web for free. That's the very short version. So, in amongst all this, he called such persons "Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Wretchs". So of course, people made t-shirts. They're very cute!

I'm loving these discussions, especially seeing the authors take each other to school.

I need a P-STW icon.

That's brilliant! I can't get over the irony that a supposed leader in the SF community is such a technophobic, unimaginative, ill-informed troglodyte. Hats off to the Pixel-stained Technopeasant Wretches who are living in the 21st century -- um, you know, where the readers are. :)

You know, I've never mentioned this is the fanfic-profic debates that come up, because it might be hurtful.

But I would feel just as awkward about asking people to pay to read my fic as I would about asking someone to pay to have sex with me. Writing, like sex, is deeply personal and should be enjoyed by both parties. Going pro, in either field, would take much of the pleasure out of the act itself.

I'm not really saying professional writers are whores. But I might be saying that whores are like professional writers.
