The Doctor Dances

I really do love that episode. Our local PBS station is airing the 'first' season of DW, along with the Confidentials. Yeah, I've seen it before, and I have it on DVD, but it's fun to switch channels and actually come across it on your TV.

KTEH is the reason I got to see Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Red Dwarf, and Survivors all those years ago, so it's nice to see they're keeping up the tradition. It's mixed with sadness at the death last week of Tom Fanella, who ran KTEH for so many years, back in the good old days and was the reason we were fortunate enough to see so many great SF shows.

...the death last week of Tom Fanella...

:::cries::: I hadn't heard. I'm really heartbroken to hear that.

I wouldn't be a fangirl today if it hadn't been for KTEH in the 80s.

He had cancer and died of heart failure: http://community.livejournal.com/sfba_sf_fans/93007.html

KTEH filled my fannish spaces back in the days before the internet :) Before I moved back to the States, I had to rely on the video rooms at cons to see episodes of most BBC SF shows.

I grew up in Arlington, just outside DC. We got Maryland Public Television (MPT) there, and they ran Doctor Who, at 11:00pm on Saturday night, for years. I never watched it until the late 80's. They would run Robin Hood and the Doctor Who.

I moved to Arizona 10 years ago, and KAET out of Phoenix doesn't run the Doctor, sadly.

I forgot, MPT ran Blake's 7 for a while there, too.
