Who'd have thought it?

Way back when, watching Doctor Who meant being years behind, maybe catching episodes at SF cons. But tomorrow, for the 50th anniversary, there's a global simulcast. For the first time ever, I get to watch live, as it were. It's awesome, but very weird.

I had to wait until I could buy the Amazon Prime streaming on Sunday, but, oh, my, yes! I think back to when I was just then watching new-to-me Seventh Doctor episodes on PBS, completely innocent of the fact that the series was well-since canceled.

When I reached the end on my local PBS station and learned the terrible truth, at least I discovered the monthly meet-ups at the local independent bookshop, sharing VHS tapes in a back corner... I don't wish back the unavailability of everything, of course, but I do wish back those sorts of community meet-ups... and independent bookstores, while I'm at it...
