I Won!

Totally shocked, but I won the Queen of Swords tapes I was bidding on at the PWFC Spring Auction! What makes them extra nice is that I don't have Val or David's autographs, and these are signed by them as well as Peter. Now I just need to figure out where to put them. My apartment is too small for my DVD collection, and VHS tapes have much bigger footprints [ponders]

A big bit [g]

They aren't that big! I thought that was you bidding on them. Is there room under the bed?

Every speck of space in the living room is covered. In fact, Nin just did a huge rearranging thing to try and fit more in. I need more shelves [g] Maybe if I find another place for my cookbooks... [stared at shelves]

Nope, I sleep on an air mattress on the floor.

Good for you!

Val is a lovely and interesting man! I'm so glad I got to meet him in Memphis!

I never got a chance to actually meet him in Memphis, or David for that matter, so an autograph will be nice :)

Was this because you sat in the corner drinking wine with certain other people who shall not be named?

Memo to self: introduce Ith to people at Vegas.

No, I couldn't find an empty seat at any of the tables, so I gave up. That's why I was drinking in the corner. It's not a big deal, just even for me Memphis was a record in guest avoidance :)

Yay!!! Congrats to you. I'm sure you'll find a place for them. *s*

Thanks! I'm still so surprised.

On thinking about it, I think if I moved my giant knit dragon from the top of my bookshelf, I could put them there, then put the dragon on top. He's big, but very lightweight.

That sounds like a plan to me. *BG*

Totally off topic, though congrats on winning the tapes (much delayed congrats).

I don't know if you appreciate concrit on your icons or not--If not, please just skip right over this comment--but if you do, I'd noticed that sometimes the aspect ratios on your icons look a bit distorted--in this one for example, Peter's a bit horizontally squashed. Is that intentional? Or would like some tips on how to avoid that? (Not that I can tell you explicitly how to do it off the top of my head unless you use photoshop). I'm really sorry if this came out of the blue, but it's not actually obvious how to resize something in photoshop without running the risk of squishing one way or the other.

Actually, it's on purpose. I like things that look a little off. And no, I don't use Photoshop, it's a little outside my budget.

No problem, then! A little bit of offset can do a lot to make an icon interesting. It's something that shows up unintentionally sometimes though, so I wanted to check. I really hope I did not imply any criticism of your icons--that was unintentional on my part. I just--*flails* I felt we were acquainted enough that I could mention it in case it was some small thing. You are quite a bright spot on my flist. I enjoy reading your excitement about your shows and Methos!

If you are interested in a graphics program (I am lucky enough to get a very large discount on photoshop at my university), there is a free photoshop-like program called Gimp, which some people like. Though have probably discovered your own preferred solution. Anyway, I'll step back now, feeling more than a bit awkward.

No problem :) I actually use Paintshop Pro, and have for the last 12-13 years for my graphics, and like how it works. And how it is easy on my pocketbook :)

*nods* That's a good one. I actually wish I knew how to use it as I believe it is supposed to be good at mimicking traditional mediums for the kind of hand drawn art that I like to do. Anyway, it's bedtime for me. Good night!
