Bad Wolf

Can somebody refresh my memory on what Bad Wolf was in the earlier seasons of DW? I haven't seen any of the episodes since they first aired, so my memory is a little hazy. Or in this case, I guess 'nonexistent' would be a better word!

Bad Wolf was Rose, basically. In the end of season one she absorbed the power of the Tardis and said "I am the Bad Wolf, I create myself." And then she killed a bunch of Daleks and saved the Doctor. She left the "Bad Wolf" messages across time and space to tell herself to use the Tardis to go save the Doctor. Er, something like that.

I think currently Bad Wolf is more a message for the Doctor to tell him she's coming to his dimension.

Ah! Yes! That explains why I keep having mental flashes of Rose with glowing eyes [g]

Thank you :)

She also [accidentally?] gave Jack Harkness his immortality.

*Nods.* That would be a big part of the reason I'm not excited about this whole revisiting "Bad Wolf". I love immortal!Jack, and messing around with "Bad Wolf" jeopardizes that.

I do not think they will do anything to mess around with immortal Jack. If they do Torchwood goes bye, bye and killing a spin-off franchise is not good.

1) I don't believe changing Jack would eliminate Torchwood. He didn't found it, just wound up in it. 2) Between "The Last of the Time Lords" and "Exit Wounds" I don't trust one little bit RTD et al. I've already heard the announced "third season" of Torchwood is going to be five episodes rather than thirteen.

Not sure I agree. He stated when Canary Wharf happened Torchwood was destroyed. He restarted it in the Doctor's honor. Also, his Torchwood is independent. And they lost Torchwood 1. Definately, would impact the show.

What got me about "Bad Wolf" this time around was the Doctor's response as to what it meant. "The end of the universe". It totally contradicts what happened when "Bad Wolf" was revealed in "The Parting of the Ways". And I'm still not convinced that was wholly Rose when she spoke to Nine. Time had taken control of her, specifically Time contained within the Doctor's ship.

In "Tooth & Claw", the werewolf alien said, "You've had a bit of the Wolf in you as well", indicating it wasn't truly HER. Then a friend of mine has been linking me to shit tons of end of the world stuff in Norse Mythology, with Fenrir and the end of the world and Loki (the Trickster) ... scary shit.

Guess we'll find out next week.
