Okay, UK Peeps

Tell me all about the series "Holby City". According to the PWFC, it's PW's new gig for at least the next year.

A few minutes later: oh, and he's playing a doctor! Heh.

A few more minutes later: a summary from IMDB

"Drama series depicting the frenetic daily lives of the doctors, nurses and patients in the hectic cardiac unit of Holby City General Hospital. The unit is run by the autocratic Consultant Surgeon Anton Meyer (George Irving) assisted by arrogant sidekick Registrar Nick (Michael French) who find themselves in a continuous running battle with Consultant Muriel McKendrick ('Phyllis Logan' ) over beds with the rest of the staff caught in the cross-fire."

Sounds like General Hospital mixed with Grey's Anatomy

Yeah, when I saw the new job announcement, I was figuring no con appearence would be next. Bummer for us, but at the same time, it's wonderful news. And how ironic, he moves to CA, and then gets a job back home!

Hopefully it wasn't a long term lease =) as I am fairly sure the family will be with him...

It's very popular in the UK - my mother loves it. *g* It can only do good things for Peter's career, at least in the UK.

Holby City is a spin-off from the long running Casualty, which is Britain's answer to ER. It's not really a soap, as such, although it has definite soap-like properties. If PW's the new Consultant Surgeon, that'll probably be a pretty major role in the series. I haven't watched Holby for years, but may have to start watching it again...

Apparently he starts in August -- talk about a quick turn around :) It's not quite my fantasy of him being on Grey's, but it seems close!

It's funny, I saw this on another list and immediately thought "ooh, must start watching Holby City".. I haven't watched Casualty for years (and Holby not at all), but they might be worth a second look now *lol* there are occasional crossovers y'see.

Casualty never struck me as being as polished as something like ER, which might have been a budget thing (BBC series i.e. no associated advertising revenue) but it feels like the NHS. You can practically smell the disinfectant.

Oh the bunny fodder.. :)
