I swear, does this woman never go away? Can't she go mess with, I don't know, the Biography Channel? More than a decade after the crap she pulled with Forever Knight, she's still a thorn in the side of fandom.

When are folks like this going to realize that they need to hold onto their fan base and not try to be everything to everyone? You can't get the mundanes because you stick genre trappings on straight programming, and you don't get the fans because the genre trappings look stuck on to straight programming--and crappy straight programming at that. The reason we like our Forever Knight and Torchwood and such is because the writers don't treat us like idiots.

She was the one behind all the 3rd season crap like making them do a wrestling episode to push USAs Wrestling show, and she lied straight up when she said if FK had a certain rating they wouldn't cancel it. It did, it surpassed it, but it was canceled anyway. Though that was due ion art to the deal they made with the Highlander producers. Basically, if they axed FK, they offered rerun rights for the earlier seasons of HL for a vastly discounted rate.

As you can see from the comments, there's lots of FK fans who still curse her name :)

Wow, I didn't realise I had been hating her for that long--I didn't know until now that she had a hand in making FK the atrocity it was in S3 and was only mad in a general sort of way. And here I thought my Bonnie Hammer hate began when Farscape was killed off. Excuse me, I must go and stew in bitter bile and venom for a while... so much lost time to make up for.

ETA: And "Syfy"? I said it on someone else's LJ and still maintain that it looks like an abbreviated way of spelling syphilis.

SciFi canceled The Dresden Files, but promotes the heck out of their wrestling programming. Changing the spelling of their name is not going to solve their problems.

BSG ends Friday. Dunno what, if anything, I'll be interested in watching on that channel after that.

Arg. If she'd just bloody well stick with USA, it'd be all good. The "Characters Welcome" branding is working great, they're properly promoting and positioning Burn Notice and In Plain Sight, they're complementing them perfectly with syndicated pickups like NCIS and House... it's a bang-up success.

Oh, for pity's sake. It's Sci Fi. i.e Science Fiction, and renaming it in some kind of lame attempt to be 'hip' is like watching that guy talk about how he's watching BSG, thinks Dark Knight was better than Iron Man, and really liked that Asimov book, but steadfastly refuses to admit that he's actually a fan/watcher/reader of *gasp* science fiction! It just seems a bit weasely and pathetic - 'Oh no, we're cool really, see? ... Hey guys, why are you switching off?'

Hey, I have another reason to use my icon this year! LOL.

"SyFy" just looks stupid. I don't even watch that channel anymore. There's nothing on it that even remotely interests me, and I love science fiction. Not wrestling. Not half naked chicks in peril/insect of the week/crap movies that are beyond bad even MST3K wouldn't shred them.

Maybe they should just change the name to Spike Jr. and show Girls Gone Wild ads all the time between wrestling shows. Might as well. :P
