The Great Unsung Fic & Vid Party 2009

Happy New Year!

I was going to put this up last night, but totally spaced. Those of you who have been around here a while will recognize this from years past. Those of you new to Case de Ith, well, I hope you join in and have fun! And please feel free to pimp this out if you like.

There are the fic and vids that get tons of comments and recced and nominated for awards... and then there's the rest.

Here's the plan: if you wrote or created something in 2009 that you were really proud of, but you're pretty sure that no one other than maybe your mother read or viewed, then rec it in the comments. Tell us a bit about it, and include a link, of course. And if you enjoyed something this year by someone else that you thought didn't get nearly enough love, then you can rec that too. And it doesn't have to be confined to LJ postings. (If you aren't positive the story or vid you want to rec was created in 2009, that's fine. It's not like I have minions that are going to go check!). Or you can rec your own stuff and someone else's! And more than once too! I'm easy.

I figure it will provide some entertainment for those of us who aren't going out for the holiday, and spread some New Year love around for some of the lonely creative endeavors out there.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so don't be shy!

And hey, even if you did get love, there's nothing wrong with being an attention junkie, so pass on whatever you'd like even more love for. We promise not to tease you.

Well, I really liked this Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgbNymZ7vqY)

I tried picking a fic, but I can't. Everything either got some really nice comments or isn't finished yet. :D

*hugs*

Happy New Year's!

Same to you :)

Happy New Year! Let it be better than the previous one:).

Well, I started 2009 with The Autumnal Equinox (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4771264/1/The_Autumnal_Equinox) (about 2000 words Methos/Ceirdwyn piece, with a flashback to Viking's Age). Wanted it to be a Christmas story, but then I found some good canon sources in the web, and realized it wasn't possible:). Actually, I rethought it three times while studing extracts from Watcher CD, though I'm sure nobody would have noticed any contradictions, but being canon nerd has its drawbacks:).

I haven't written enough this year unfortunately :( But I would always love more comments for this unfinished WIP (http://bookaddict43.livejournal.com/88610.html).

Lots of people have commented on this vid, but I loved it...There are legends (http://ras-elased.livejournal.com/202295.html) by [livejournal.com profile] ras_elased. A Merlin/Arthur reincarnation vid.

Wonderwall (http://www.megavideo.com/?v=UXTAOPSF) by [livejournal.com profile] misslola89. Merlin/Arthur

Here's to the end of the world (http://community.livejournal.com/swannee/17527.html) by [livejournal.com profile] colls. Firefly, Jayne/Kaylee

Hard sun (http://bradcpu.livejournal.com/89348.html) by [livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro & [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu. Firefly - this got lots of reviews but is awesomely awesome :)

Here's a dark and nasty little SPN snippet of Dean's time in Hell that nobody ever commented on: Demons Bleed (http://keerawa.livejournal.com/90501.html). I might vid this one, actually, depending on what we see of Meg in the rest of season 5.

And this is a very sparse, melancholy SPN piece I wrote for Spook Me, showing Sam haunted by Jess' ghost early in season 1. Quiet Waits the Grave (http://keerawa.livejournal.com/88237.html)

Also, my [livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 due South horror story, External Factors (The Fallen Bathrobe Remix) (http://keerawa.livejournal.com/80955.html#cutid1) didn't get quite the love I think it desereved.

I am so glad you mentioned these! I just read Quiet Waits the Grave and it made me cry. It was wonderful.

I'm going to pick two stories of mine. First was 'We'll Sing On (http://ithildyn.livejournal.com/793070.html)' - it was my first attempt at wrting Chris Larabee, and I was rather fond of the story. And second, 'On A Raven's Wing (http://ithildyn.livejournal.com/874756.html)' - it started out strong, but by the end, comments seemed to peter out, so maybe it didn't hold interest, or people assumed I knew they were still reading. Anyway, it was probably the story I most loved wrting in 2009, so if you missed it, it isn't too late :)

Oh, 'We'll sing on' was the first story where I actually paid attention to one of M7 boys:). 'Too young for Heaven' had me hooked and then I finally went to read Casey's stories - and my fate was sealed:).

I did not know that!

if you wrote or created something in 2009 that you were really proud of

I did - my Torchwood Big Bang fic Shattered in Aspect (http://aeron-lanart.livejournal.com/138555.html). It's a Torchwood/Highlander crossover (part of my ongoing AU), but there's a fair proportion of Torchwood fans who won't touch it with a barge pole as it is Children of Earth compliant.

Here via my f-list!

In 2009, I finished my 100k+ Doctor Who/Torchwood/Lovecraft crossover (http://efflorescencia.livejournal.com/16922.html), and this (http://community.livejournal.com/booshslashhaven/833453.html) fic by [livejournal.com profile] violetisblue forever changed the way I think about fanfiction.

How clever Ith is....

[identity profile] jordanmckenzie7.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose I might try wading the dark waters here. I wrote two small fics this year (hangs head in shame because I haven't finished the sequel to ON YOUR HORSES, BOYS) I'm sure everyone missed. HOBSON'S CHOICE, http://jordanmckenzie.com/Hobson's%20Choice.html, and ANKLE DEEP, http://jordanmckenzie.com/Ankle%20Deep.html . Ankle Deep is my very first attempt at adult fiction, so I'm not sure how it will be received.

Thanks Ith for the opportunity to share my stories.
