His Majesty's Dragon

That was one of the books I got from Berta last night. I've been wanting to read it for ages! I read for a couple hours before bed and got about halfway through and intend to finish tonight. I didn't want to put it down! I need to go to the bookstore this weekend and get the next one.

FANTASTIC series. And did you see that Peter Jackson has optioned the movie rights to the series? That could be seriously awesome.

What I find most interesting is that as you work through the series, although the book initially seems to be centered around the human character, it is Temerarire that ends up being a very Duncan MacLeod-like hero, complete with initial naivete, colored by a growing understanding that the world isn't always what you think it is, or what you would like it to be. Ultimately, it is Temerarire that becomes the most vibrant, charismatic character in the series.

(I think I need a Temerarire icon!)

That's how it took me, too. I bought the book with some trepidation, because both "majesty" and "dragon" were in the title, which usually makes me run in the other direction. But, it's been recced by everyone, soooo.

As soon as I put the first book down, I went out and got the next two. 8-)

It'll make a great movie!

This sounds interesting. Who wrote it, Ith? I think I might like to give it a try. "majesty" and "Dragon" in the title is usually a clincher for me.

I'm so glad to see everyone enjoying these books. I met the author at Balticon a few months ago, and she's a very sweet lady. I'm desperate to get through my list so I can finally read the book, too! It's been sitting on my shelf since June!
