SG1: The End

And, I've finally seen the last episode of Stargate.

I know there's going to be two movies, but this all seemed like 'The End'. I got way more emotional than I expected. Starting with the destruction of the Asgard, which really upset me, especially that Jack wasn't there. By the time we got to the last scene, I was crying. Oh, and I hated Daniel for how he treated Vala -- it really seemed so OOC. Daniel has never been a favourite of mine, but even I expected better from him than how he acted. and now, it's all over, except for a few straight to DVD movies [sigh] all that's left is Atlantis, which while I enjoy it, isn't SG1 and doesn't have that place in my fangirl heart.

The Asgard are destroyed??? WTF?

I admit I've been out of the fandom since Janet was sacrificed, but dayum!

Yeah, because they couldn't procreate, and their cloning had reached 'the end', they decided as a race to go out with a bang, literally. They handed their technology over to us -- the fifth race -- and then blew up their planet. It was much more upsetting than something fictional should have made me, but there you go :)

Dayum! Maybe I'll have to find the finale and watch it just for that... Tho' I doubt I'll know anything else going on...and will be sad there's no Jack.

WTF were TPTB thinking to NOT have Jack in the series finale? Idiots...

That's what really got to me. Jack should have been there to say goodbye to Thor. And here I am getting all teary just writing about it! Silly! It really bothered me more than I thought it would.

I do read that Jack's going to be in the second movie.

Well, like I said, since Janet's sacrifice [because that's the only way I can say it without getting 'seeing red' pissed off], I've been done with the show. I doubt I'll watch the movies at all...

There are 10 more episodes starting April 13th. These are the very last ones.

Those are the ones I'm talking about :) They've already aired in Canada and the UK. They're just starting to air them on SciFi next week. But I haven't seen Atlantis yet, so I have ten of those to look forward to. I decided to wait and see them when they aired, instead of watching them as they aired in the UK and Canada.

They aired in the UK and Canada first???? No fair! I thought this was *our* show. It should show first in the U.S. (I'm stamping my foot and sulking *g*)

Yeah, because SciFi decided to screw with the schedule to make BSG the center of attention and held the last of SG1 and Atlantis till BSG was over for the season.

Huh? I thought there were 10 more eps starting this Friday?

Here in the States, yes, but they've aired in the UK and Canada. Last episode of SG1 and most of the last of this season of Atlantis, aired a few weeks back.

They've already aired them in Ireland and the UK too! I think SciFi really dropped the ball by having a hiatus while still selling the series to other channels. In the days of torrentz and downloads, a TV channel can't afford to make decisions like that :-|

"The End" indeed. I've been a good little fangirl of SG1 all the way through until the middle of the tenth season. Even after Jack left, I carried on because I actually liked Mitchell and thought Vala was fabulous in Season 9.

But then after the 4 month hiatus in Season 10, I lost interest -- sad to say. But I finally dl'ed the eps and watched them a few weeks back. And why I lost interest came flooding back: where was the team? Where was the Daniel (increasingly snarky though he became) that I had loved. Sam? Phsah. The new doctor never grew on me. And General Landry was as dull at the end as he was when he first appeared at the beginning of Season 9.

The only ep I liked was the school reunion/Daniel in the library ep -- forgotten the name already.

And as for the last ep, the whole Daniel monologue just threw me for a spin. Where did that come from? ::shudder:: Tealc was the only who got through this ep with any sense of gravitas. And, like you, I was gutted to see the Asgard destroyed. ::sigh::

So, ::pointing to icon::, I'm going back to my happy place in SG1 fic when Jack and Daniel were so obviously together... and happy. And I'm staying there.

(Sorry for the rant ... )

Thank you! I loved "200" -- that ep made me very happy. And contributed to a burst of icon making ;)

And I adore your Daniel and bear icon!! That's just too adorable! *sigh* Must go read some happy J/D fic now ...

I liked that episode too, I thought it was great fun, especially the Thunderbird-like puppets.

OMG looking at the icon on your reply, I'd forgotten what they'd done with Tealc's uniform. That's classic, and a wonderful spin on the usual "Deanna Troi, Seven of Nine" alterna-uniform that's created to turn the cranks of the 18-30 male demographic.

I didn't create the Daniel with bear icon. I wish I had that kind of talent and software. I got it from someone else's journal, and they didn't have a credit on it. I've just edited the comments on it be like my other uncredited icons: "Did you create this? Let me know so I can credit." I didn't realize I'd forgotten that with this one.

BTW, can I borrow your Daniel/Jack "we do" icon? I will credit, of course.

There were so many fabulous moments in "200". It was a wonderful homage (in my opinion) to all of SG and sci-fi in general.

And you're more than welcome to borrow the "We Do" icon!! I'm happy to see it go to a good home ;)

Thank you!

Also, about the Daniel with bear icon, part of the reason I love it is that I love, and collect, teddy bears. That and Michael Shanks dimples in that shot are too adorable. ;-)

Rant away :)

I like my Stargate ship free, but I appreciate the sentiment about happier times. As much as I'll miss SG1 every week, I think it was time for an exit.

I actually was okay with RDA leaving, I totally understood his desire to put fatherhood first. I loved Cameron and Vala. But I think there were too many changes all at once. New general, new doctor, new team. There were many episodes I enjoyed, but the final episode should have been with Jack and General Hammond, especially Jack should have been there with the Asgard.

Ah well.
