I'm always slightly befuddled when I see someone propose a fic challenge with so many specific details, you're left wondering why they don't just write it themselves!
Glad to know we aren't the only ones who have had this thought.
I'd never be so presumptuous as to ask someone to write me fic. Hell, I've written fic as surprise presents for people, but nothing specific was asked for, really.
Time. On those occasions I have released a bunny to the wild it is because I have had a good idea that I think other people might like to but I am in the middle of three-plus novel length stories and about ten short stories already. At that point giving someone else inspiration is more likely to result in a story than adding it on the end of my fic queue.
There are ideas, and then there's what I'm talking about where the person practically writes an essay of what they want in a fic with so much detail, you're left wondering why not write it? It's way too specific for anyone else to write.
Demands: Methos on a pirate ship during hurricane season, getting shipwrecked with Jack Sparrow, rescued by Lizzy, Will drinks all the rum, and there's a fourteen course formal meal as a celebratory party when Lizzy is returned to her father after a stop in Tortuga.
*looks embarrasses* Actually, I did that to someone recently! Not intentionally, just got a bit carried away with myself when answering a prompt meme. The idea was to give her a story concept she'd never normally write, and i kept coming up with weird, random elements that I just kept adding, and adding, and adding...
In my own defence, it's the only time I've done this and jedibuttercup (the author i subjected this horror on) came up with a very amusing take on it!
It is possible that the prompter is unable to write at all and therefore is hoping someone else can. But then I'm a bad person who would dictate what a picture would look like if someone drew it for me because although I can write, I cannot draw anything except crooked stick figures.
Actually, so am I. Usually I just murfle to myself though. I'm a closeted heartless bitch.
Although, now that I think of it, and I think you made this point already, so I'm not being original at all... Usually those detailed prompts are simply cluttered with cliches and drivel.

"If you want a story so specifically tailored to your kinks, then write the damn thing yourself!"

Awwww [sniff] You say the sweetest things.
I usually just keep my mouth shut, or my fingers roped as the case may be. But every now and then I have to let my sarcastic snarky self be free!
Well..........
