A More Permanent Hell

Just realized I miscounted when I was replying to the Three Things I Like fic meme I posted last week. Oops!! Not that I think anyone cares the number they picked may have been two or three off, but go me!

We had a plumber coming Wednesday to put in a new hot water heater, but he never showed. Near the end of the day, he called to say he'd gotten held up on another job, but he'd be there Thursday morning. He finally shows up Thursday, mum says to hang on a sec while she locks the cats up, and he says, oh, I'm allergic to cats, I can't do the job. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're a plumber who is so allergic to cats you can't work in a house with them, and you didn't think you should mention that WHEN WE MADE THE APPOINTMENT!?!?!? So now, we have to find another plumber. That's when I remembered I'd been given a free membership to Angie's List, since they're new in the market here, and need to build up reviews. And thankfully, it isn't one of the sites blocked at work. I start texting mum the numbers of well rated plumbers. Unfortunately, most of them are waaaaay more expensive that stupid cat guy, and we'd barely put the money together for his bid. Finally, on plumber number 4, we got a bid that was more, but not so much more it made us faint. He was dumbfounded about cat allergy guy. So, at 8AM this morning, he was here, and we now HAVE HOT WATER!!!

I got an email touting the new fall, must have fashion trend, coated denim. I had no idea what this was. Turns out, it's jeans coated with some sort of resin to make them look like leather. Though they don't look it, supposedly, it's breathable. They look uncomfortable to me, not to mention expensive. I also discovered in the course of my research, that stirrup pants are back, though they seem to be part of the coated denim thing.

Watching The Great British Bake Off, and it's cracking me up in this challenge - which is their idea of an 'American Pie' - as they're talking about how sweet American desserts are (One of the judges being quite nose up in the air on the subject.). I must protest! Some of the sweetest desserts I ever had were on visits to the UK. We definitely do not have the market cornered on sweet!

We went to Mesquite this morning to acquire adult beverages (It's the town right on the Nevada border nearest us.) and on the way home, "Call Me Maybe" came on the radio. I said to Nin that I'd like to see this done as an Avengers vid, which made her chortle. But that didn't last long, after I added, from Loki's POV. Now she hates me, because she can totally see it and it's making her crazy.
