Endings

I almost never have trouble starting a story, but I have a heck of a time ending one. I actually finished writing 'Just Desserts' last night! But I can't get the end to sound/read right. Nothing works for me. I tried several things, but finally gave up and went to bed. I'm hoping fresh eyes today will help. So much for being able to post it this morning.

Anyone else ever have trouble with endings? Or am I Miss Bizarro again? :)

*raises hand* I often have the ending in my head as I'm writing towards it, but there have been at least two stories that I had trouble with. I remember sending one off to beta, and it coming back with a "you really can write a better ending than that" message on it. *g*

Oh, good! Glad I'm not the only one :)

It's just those last couple lines I can't get right. I blame Duncan and Methos for being difficult [g]

Well, the current huge fic I am working on has had the ending (and most of the other parts) written for a long time. It's getting to the ending that's taking it's time as I keep getting little writer's block on a few things. But I feel your pain. Good luck though!

The getting there can be a pain!

*Grins* All the bloody time, especially with my longer fics! I find that the closer I get to the end, the longer I take with each chapter....and the final chapter? Forget it, I can spend weeks worrying over a finale!

The story is over, done. There resolution of Duncan and Methos' bet played out. But what I need is a way to end it on a light and humourous note in keeping with the theme of the prior stories. I think I have an idea, so I'll just go with it I think before I'm too grumpy to write anything light!

Always. Always, always, always.

It never shows in your writing though :)

Yeah, but if you could read my mind, love...

Although I admit that the middles really kill me.

I completely suck at ending fics. I either get to the end way before I intended so it feels rushed, or it's like pulling teeth and I really struggle to write anything cohesive!

Seems to be a more common problem than I would have thought!

No no no no no no no! You are NOT the only one with the problem of how to bring a fic to an end. I have several fics, of monster sized length, that are just not coming to a conclusion what-so-ever. I[ve finally had to back away from them...

*shoots Story folder a glare*

Been a long standing problem with me!

It's usually bits in the middle that give me the most trouble, especially with long fic. However, I often spend a lot of time on short stories polishing the very last line, trying to give it that extra littel punch.
