Answers My Question

Yesterday, I was wondering about the networks buying Canadian or British shows. I was reading this Variety article and came across this about NBC:

«   »
Contingency plans: Net has already pulled the plug on "Heroes: Origins," citing the uncertain future of the WGA talks as a reason. Look for more cost-saving moves as NBC bulks up on reality -- and maybe even buys some already-produced episodes of British or Canadian shows.

I recommend the article as a whole. It has a network by network breakdown of the season so far and the contingency plans.

Why am I not surprised that the CW has all these "reality" shows ready in case this writer's strike carries on? *sighs* What I'm more concerned with is the future of the only show I watch on that network, man.

I read on some industry thread that the CW wouldn't survive at all if if there's a long strike. Hopefully, that won't be true.

There's a few new costume dramas on the loose at the Beeb - might even get them, if you're lucky :)

Oh? What are they? I mean, should I stumble across them somewhere :)

Fanny Hill (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/cinema/features/fanny-hill.shtml) - which I missed, but there's a repeat on tonight :)

Also, Cranford (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0974077/) (soon) - I love the cast list!

Capturing Mary (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/poliakoff/capturing_mary_feature.shtml) is on tomorrow - more recent period/modern - and Joe's Palace (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/poliakoff/joes_palace_feature.shtml), well no costumes at all, but Rupert Penry-Jones is half the reason I watch Spooks XD

Hi - Just wanted to interrupt as I've also been pimping the Poliakoff over on my LJ - Newsnight Review were harsh (did you catch that?) but both (not just the RPJ film) look lovely. It's worth you clicking over to the BBC TWO page and seeing the 4pt trailer for Capturing Mary.

*ducks out again*
