B.C.-based U.S. TV series to shut down

A number of U.S. television shows shooting in the Vancouver area are on the brink of shutting down because of the American screenwriters' strike, a move that would throw hundreds of actors and stagehands out of work and deal a major blow to an already struggling industry.

The rest here.

This strike is going to have a far greater impact than anyone imagined, isn't it? I hope both sides realize just what they're doing right now.

The article only mentioned three shows, but I wonder how many others will be affected.

I'm not surprised by this. At all. I hope the networks see and understand that this is going to have far reaching affects.

Maybe it will be a decent wake-up call at last. It's going to be rough on the people who need this for a daily wage, like the tech crews and the character actors.

Almost wish Peter had been willing to stick around for another year on Holby.

Although this might not last that long once the stations and the producers see the numbers dwindling in tv watchers.

this is getting worse and worse. But I don't see any other alternative for the writers. If they get a bad deal, then the actors and directors won't get anything better. I just hope someone decides to use reason soon and they can negotiate.
