DVR Cleanup

Well, the DVR was getting overly full, so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and delete shows that had been on there for extended periods of time and just accept I was never going to get to them. I got rid of BSG Razor, Tin Man, and New Amsterdam -- which I heard last night had been canceled, and since I'd never watched any of it, figured there was no point now. Dexter was on the cusp, but I decided to keep it for a bit longer. We did see the first episode of that, and liked it, so maybe in the summer, we'll get to it.

I feel so unburdened now [g] No more guilt over ignoring them as I scroll by them to pick a show to watch.

I liked Tin Man, New Amsterdam is a good cut. I've watched most of the episodes and don't think it will be back in the fall.

I figure I can always get Tin Man on DVD someday if I need to.

The only value "Tin Man" had in our household was as a MYSTERY SCIENCE 3000 op. It works beautifully for that. Tin Man had a nice conceit or two, but between the strained and wooden acting (Zoe Deschanel: female sex's answer to Keanu Reeves) and the, ah, plot weaknesses, we rather felt it was living up to the SciFi channel's standard of Quality Mini Series entertainment.

On the other hand, many of the teens I know who loved SFC's "Wizard of Earthsea" liked Tin Man too, and I admit, it would make a kick-ass RPG.

There are folks on my f'list who loved it, but others, like my boss, didn't really like it.

That is usually the way.

I'll give it a go as I love Mr Cummings ;o)

As someone who tends to hoard, I'm getting close to the same point. I deleted some stuff, but I left 'Tin Man' on there, as well as some movies from our free 3 month movie channels trial that I'd never seen, such as 'Pulp Fiction'. That movie has made its way into the cultural consciousness of America too much for me to just delete it without watching. The only other Tarantino stuff I've seen was the CSI thing he did and an edited for tv version of 'Reservoir Dogs'. I would like to try 'Dexter', but it's gonna have to wait until I can rent DVDs again. Same with BSG.

You're obviously much better at watching stuff off the DVR than I am! I just haven't been in the mood lately to watch movies or recorded stuff. I did watch some of it when we first got the DVR ("Near Dark" which wasn't as good as the cult buzz I'd heard about it and some tv shows), but I'm not finding the time or the energy these days. Knowing most of the stuff can be rented on DVD makes it easy to procrastinate. ::G::

Oh, you should watch Dexter! It's one of my favorite shows now; I watched all of seasons one and two just this past month.

I liked the first episode we saw a lot.

New Amsterdam was a buzz kill. They hyped that show up so much, and it was a total snooze fest. Bring back Moonlight!!!

I've heard nothing but good reviews about Dexter. I hear it's going to air on regular TV but that means all the good stuff will get cut.

I watched 2 of the 3 Tin Man and loved it. It's out on DVD now.

I'm actually watching it on network, and I've been told about all that's cut is the cursing, which suits me fine since I'm not a huge fan of shows that are one curse word after another.
