"Robin Hood woos Cate Blanchett"

Cate Blanchett will play Maid Marian alongside Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood in the Ridley Scott-directed adventure pic for Universal Pictures. The film, which had been called “Nottingham” but is undergoing a title change, begins production in early April. Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer is producing with Scott and his Scott Free banner. The drama, originally scripted by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris and then rewritten by Brian Helgeland, has evolved into a “Gladiator” version of the Robin Hood legend.

My thoughts exactly. The names are good but, but, but.. I didn't like the recent BBC series and the Kevin Costner version makes me go *argh* these days. Still pining for Robin of Sherwood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086791/), my childhood fave :)

At least CB and RC are likely to get the accents right, anyway.

Robin of Sherwood! Oh, I love that series! I know it was a little cheesy, but I felt it captured a lot of what the Robin Hood myths were about for me.

I was watching the newere BBC version of Robin Hood, but then I heard spoilers about what happened to Marion, and I threw up my hands in disgust. I am so over that kind of crap.

Well, I won't be seeing this. Can't stand RC. Cate is ok, but not who I would pick for Marion. So no waiting anxiously for it.

Costner's Robin Hood was most notable for Morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman (best scenery chewer ever in that film).
