Episode Five Thoughts

Nin came home early, so we just finished up.

Dang.

They certainly didn't pull any punches, did they? I have to say, this episode was much more emotionally affecting for me. The reality of Ianto's death, the desperation of parents trying to save their children, Frobisher killing his family then himself, and in the end, Jack sacrificing his grandson. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for the entire hour.

Really powerful hour of television. Off the scale angst and emotion.

I don't see how there can be any more Torchwood after this.
Unless they start focusing on Torchwood 2 (the one in Scotland), Torchwood 4 (which went missing), or start making Torchwood/UNIT specials.

OR they make a special that takes place in the altverse and has Rose, The Doctor, Gwen, Owen, Tosh, Ianto working there.

Actually, although I don't think there will be a fourth series, it would be very easy for them to do another event series in the vein of Casualty's spin-off. So we'd be given Torchwood 1909 or Torchwood1944 or whatever. Any year from the 1860's to the present day.

I'd love to see more of the people Jack worked with in Fragments.

But I have to ask for less Jack, as I love him but I need a break from him.

Meh, I felt it was thoroughly anti-climatic after Day Four. It also proved what I'd figured from the start -- strip away all the extra explosions, death and angst, it was just a rehash of the first season episode "Small Worlds" with a rehash of the nightmare vision of the future from "The Twilight Streets" tacked on the end for good measure. It was bad fanfic from beginning to end.

I thought it was a real nail biter and i couldn't believe Jack sacrificed his grandson - now i know why Ianto had to die. Ianto would never have let Jack do it and without the loss of Ianto i don't think Jack would have found the cold place in his heart to follow through.

As for Forbischer - why not call the wife and tell her to leave town? It was 2 hours until collection at that time -I find it hard to beleive that they couldn't have just driven away - it didn't seem that there were military outside his house yet. Me - would have gone on TV and wrecked the whole plan - screw queen and country. I hate hate hate it when characters decide that killing their families to "save" them is the only option.
