Historical Textiles

I found this via a link I posted to [livejournal.com profile] fripperies this morning. It's a line of books on historical textiles that actually come with fabric swatches! How nifty is that? I may have to get "Textiles for Regency Clothing 1800-1850". I've become quite obsessed on the subject since I started writing Queen of Swords fic [g]

I was wondering if you were aware of this community http://community.livejournal.com/despatches/profile. I thought you could drum up interest in your new community by having them include it in their newsletter. They basically are a newsletter for all things 18-19th century.

Now that I'm a mod for the crossover newsletter, I'm finding about a lot of different fandoms.
You should proabaly let them know about your QoS stuff too!

Ith - because I had to do some research into early Tx history which is placed at a transitional time in fashion and textile, I came across a few sites - the material used in the 1830s isnt too far off what was used in the Regency...colors got pretty fancy but they were all of natural dyes...it wasnt until later that they came up with manufactured dyes.

I had an 1835 gigot dress made from a curly-cue print, two tones of dark blue on a white background...
