Hi, friends list! There are a bazillion and a half of you! Wow. And I have a really terrible memory, so I have a hard time remembering who you all are sometimes, and which fandoms I have in common with whom, and I'm kind of curious where I came by most of you, because I can't remember in many cases. Some of you just flit by now and again, which is always a treat, and some of you have become regulars on my comment threads, which is its own kind of yay. Anyway, to steal the words of the meme:

I'd really appreciate if all of you f'list folks, wherever you fall on the spectrum, would come on by and say "hi" here. (Re)-introduce yourself, maybe mention how you ended up friending me, any fandoms we may share, tell me something random about yourself, whatever you like.

Let's see though, I doubt fandom is the right word for most of this, except I'm totally a fan of these things that you like: Pirates; pirates; historical cool stuff; mythology, which is kinda historical cool stuff but also it's very own thing; food; more food; historical ships, more historical cool stuff; and then Dr. Who, except I'm so far behind that I don't comment much on your posts about that.

Something random about me, hmm, I'm all drugged up on cold meds at the moment so I'd better shy away from this. I think this comment has exceeded it's ability to hold in the weirdness of my brain at this moment. :D

Oh thank you for the chance to whore publicize myself the fandom in which I am heavily involved.

I shall always be a Tolkienite/Hobbit Freak, so the LOTR fandom is a given, but I havent swum in those waters for quite some time. My fandom got completely taken over by a character created by Patrick O'Brian, which then became a fandom for the actor that played that character in a movie that came out in 2003 ("Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World") - and in getting into THAT fandom found a couple of fanfiction sites where I met some really amazing and delightful people. I am currently the webmaster for a fanfiction site that has rejuvenated itself by making it possible for consistent updates for both the 'old' writers and the new fans that have shown up in the fandom.

The Gaslight Hotel Gateway (http://www.gaslighthotel.net/gateway/home.html)

What the Gaslight contains is an Alternate Universe for the various different characters portrayed by Russell Crowe (there are NO stories that involve the actor himself) and the writers strive hard to keep the characters in canon (ie if the character that Crowe plays was gay in the movie to begin with, then we expect the stories to continue the characterization, but we do not accept slash stories that change the basic nature of the characters.)

I think we "met" when you posted to FORKNI-L about being on LJ and I came to check you out, but my memory is horrendous these days, so I could be wrong. I know it started out as a shared love of FK anyway. I'm also a fan of Highlander (but not particularly fannish), am completely obsessed with Torchwood (and therefore somewhat into new Who), and at least dabble (although not in innovative and avant-garde ways) in Numb3rs, House, and possibly a couple of other fandoms you are fond of. And while I love and re-read LotR and more(relatively frequently), I don't think I have the street cred of a true Tolkien fan.

And I'm too brain-frazzled to think of anything random about myself tonight.

While I don't write fanfic, I do enjoy it from time to time (I tend to stick to Highlander, but I also read Sailor Moon fanfic.). I do happy dances, star_sign and I tend to speak in unison on occasion, and I met my husband at her wedding (Our husbands knew each other from the Navy.). :D

Mmm. let's see. I was all alone at the first PWFC Road trip in Reno (a con newbie actually), it was the Friday night mixer and when I walked in you were sitting alone at a table (your friends Jen and Ninjababe were off playing BINGO). Since you "looked normal" I approached and ask if a seat was available. Thereafter you took me in, introduce me to Cafe Diablo, taught me the ropes of cons and actually got me to get an internet connection and LJ account.
