Nin and I leave Monday for a week in earthquake plagued Southern California. Yay. We're spending three days in San Diego, where we will hook up with Roberta, then drive up to Anaheim to meet up with the rest of the Ladies Assemble gang for three days in Disneyland and Captain America II. I decided to try out an Instagram account for photos, if you'd like to follow our travels.

A mutual friend on LJ has deleted her account, and now I'm worried about her. I just hate the not knowing. Anyone else know [profile] engraceable and what may have happened to her?

In a prior post, I mentioned that Tammy makes beautiful knit items, and [personal profile] pat_t requested photos. Here are some [personal profile] ninjababe and I took this morning. They're not the best pics, but it gives you an idea.

A dear friend is having some money issues, and has things she's selling, plus, she'll knit you stuff! Let me tell you, she does GORGEOUS work! I own a few pieces myself. She made me the loveliest Victorian caplet and fingerless gloves, plus a nifty scarf! Make excellent holiday gifts :D

Have been vacationing in the four corners region with Nin and Roberta since Saturday. Yesterday and Monday, we were at Mesa Verde National Park, the photo below is at Spruce House, after climbing down a ladder into a kiva. The first day, we got caught out in a lightening storm on top of the mesa, and lightening hit the ground a few hundred feet in front of me. It was very scary. The next day we did Spruce House, Cliff Castle, and Balcony House. Balcony House included a 32 ' ladder and a climb out along the cliff face with just a chain fence between me and the cliff edge. I was shaking like a leaf, but am proud of myself for doing it!

One of my oldest fandom friends, Steph, and her husband, have both been diagnosed with cancer, and as you might imagine, the bills are piling up. A fundraiser has been set up on their behalf, and if you have some money to spare, it would be greatly appreciated.

We arrived safely yesterday morning, a really long day after we fetched all from airport over next 12 hours. It was about 1am when we got to bed.

Nin, Roberta and Casey are gambling currently, and since I don't gamble, I'm contributing to ensure vice quotient by sitting in the bar behind Nin's black jack table, drinking a Margari-tine at 1pm.

Yes, I'm sick, again. Or it's an extension of the last sickness, I don't know. It's not the flu, but it's worse than a cold. I shall just call it Rufus the Sick. Now if I can just avoid the actual influenza, I will be happy.

I did have some fun this afternoon though - did a Twitter rewatch of Avengers with my Magnificent 7 twitter peeps. We had an international gathering, and the hashtag was #punygod. I was a little slow with the tweeting as my hurty head really wasn't digging me trying to multitask, but we had a good time.

On the TV front, Scandal keeps me coming back for more, and was happy to have Lost Girl back. The rewatch of Mag 7 continues, and we're now a little more than halfway through S2.

We were going to go to the movies tomorrow, probably Les Miserables, but I don' think I'm going to be up to it. Plus, I've heard it's a multiple tissue movie, and I don't think my poor lungs could handle it.

I won't be up till midnight - need to get to bed for an early start in the AM - so Happy New Year to one and all! I sure hope 2013 is a step up from 2012.

We didn't do a big Christmas, since we got the new stove a few weeks before, so mine and [livejournal.com profile] ninjababe's present to each other is a one night trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to see it in winter (We go to the North Rim at least once a year, as it's about 2+ hours away, but it's closed in the winter.). It's about six hours from us, and the weather has been decent, so it's a go! We actually got a room in the park, 1/4 mile from the rim. Will be awesome, with no wasting time driving out to the nearest town to our motel. Especially as this is a one night, then home again, dealy.

Apologies!

I'm way behind in getting around to responding to all the new friends made via the DW friending meme from a few weeks back. I think I got to everyone though, and added you to my circle.

Nice to meet you! If you have any questions about me, my fic, etc., please feel free to ask - in case I didn't cover something in posts/profiles elsewhere.

[livejournal.com profile] ninjababe and I finally went to a Cedar City Wine Club event. and we even talked to people!! Scary and strange, I know. It was held at the Iron Gate B&B, which is a lovely property. I now have a lodging recommendation for visitors in the area. And the occasion this time was the opening of the Iron Gate Winery - only one in the area. You have to go to Moab for the next one. I'd found out about the club via a Twitter followee, Larry the Wine Guy - another former Californian. It was nice putting a real face to the Twitter handle!

It's a nice setup - you bring a bottle of wine, and food to share. I tried something new, as our pears were just ready to be picked, and did a caramelized pear & sage crostini, with my own added touch of a little homemade pear liqueur in the pot whilst cooking. It came out quite nicely, if i do say so myself! And not just me - it got polished off. I'm always nervous bringing food, so I'm glad it turned out well.

This morning, I woke up with a crappy head cold, so am miserable. At least it held off till today.

We got home Monday - we drove in from Primm (Ugh, the rooms at Buffalo Bills are skeevy!) Monday morning, I went to work first, then came home. Been work, work, working, ever since.

Had an awesome time, made me totally homesick.
