Oh. My. God!
Yes, I just finished watching Doctor Who. Unfreakin' believable!
No spoilers here, but probably in the comments!!

as to the second, is he really regenerating or is this some kind of elaborate RTD fake out?

We don't know.
::sigh:: It's going to be a long couple of days until the finale.
On a separate note, I have to say -- you have amazing downloading speeds!

Then again, as Ith brought up talking to me a few minutes ago, a reset could be why the regeneration wasn't leaked to the public.

I've finally got a great ratio on the torrent site I belong to, and that seems to have speeded up my downloads considerably! Because I still have the same crap DSL I did before. The phone lines here in Monterey are too old to handle anything but the slowest speeds.

And then I felt strangely disappointed and let down.
I love Tennant in the role, but I'm getting a bit tired of the whole reset button thing masquerading as Deus Ex Machina - dude, get a new plot device!

And, boy does my cable company owe me.

Noooo! While I get the Doctor changes, I want DT for two more seasons. And since he is doing the 2009 specials, how can he regenerate.
They said something about time being out of sync. Any chance a regeneration in a time vortex could have an earlier Doctor come back as the regeneration? CE, or an even earlier one like whoever Sarah Jame was with when she first met Davros?
Just a thought, not a reset, but seems a time manipulation is needed to finally put the time war straight and end it and they are at the Medusa Cascade where it all happened. If Dalek Caan messed stuff up when he went back, so planets throughout time disappear why not have someone from another time appear?

Considering one of them is dead and the other 30 odd years older, that's not likely [g]
But yeah, it's likely they'll pull a fast one and totally ruin the joy of a regeneration for me. Bah.

Oh, and sorry you want a regeneration, it would be nice and I want one too, but not for two more seasons.
Hey, take a look at Donna's time jump from last episode. She looks really good and it kind of has that regeneration thing going.
I wonder?
Roberta

Donna doesn't look any different to me, sorry.
And meant to ask last time, what's significant about the 'two seasons' you keep mentioning? What happens in two years? [confuzzled]

It is nothing special but from everything I have read DT is suppose to be doing the 2008 Christmas Special and the 3 special movies planned for 2009 when DW is on sabatical. In 2010 they are bringing a full series (British length e.g, 13 episodes back on air. From what I read in some DW magazines my brother has picked up for me, either new Doctor comes in at 2010 sometime.
Guess I just had it in my head he was here for two more years. And, I really wanted 1 more year of Donna then a new companion. Looks like they kept a huge surprise in store.

But my suspicion is they'll pull some sort of cheat and we'll still have DT as the Doctor. That's just what I've come to expect from the DW PTBs [shrug]

As always,, Time will tell us all.
Now off to bed. Will have nightmares of DW, so many, many question, like is Donna a time lord? Was it drums or a heartbeat she heard? Who is the three fold man Dalek Caan spoke of?
Oh, and gramps and Sarah Jane better not die. But then, who is the most faithful companion? Rose/ Tardis? SJ? River Song? She knew his name and "had been to the end of the universe with him" - mmmm.
I want Friday, now. [goes off to pout]

The thing is, Jenny didn't regenerate, she got fixed by the 'sparkly-I-bring-life-terraforming-stuff' ala Spock. Also, the hand only regrew because Ten had just undergone a full regeration - of course, it could be a regeration, ala Romana (i.e. he chooses his form) but they'd have to hand wave away Nine/Ten's explanation of how a regeneration works in New Who and retcon the Time War (Dalek Lasers kill Time Lords STONE dead... )

[Sighs]
But all this is not as irritating as me suddenly realising I've misspelled regeneration at least twice in my last comment!

Pondering fan reaction, and I wonder if us old Whovians are more likely to embrace a regeneration than the new fans? The same way that old fans aren't as hot and bothered over new companions? Ooooh! Roooooose! /cough
Pardon my snark [g]

As someone on my flist once said, a lot of the fans who were introduced to the show through New Who thought they were watching the RoseTyler show, and felt awfully betrayed at the end of season two as a result - and I can kind of see their point. if I hadn't watched DW as a kid...
And now if Ten is leaving...
Maybe, RTD is trying to soften up the audience, for the real thing? Because, lets face it, Moffat will probably want to have his very own Doctor to play with...

And, I agree... Since I'm an older fan (Sylvester McCoy as my favorite Doctor (or, as I call him, 'Sly'. Even said it to his face. [weg]) I'm not all "NOOOOOOOO! HE NEEDS TO STAY AND BE HAPPY WITH HIS TRU LUV, ROSE!" (Gah! Gave myself a headache just reading that!)
I mean, I like Tennant in the role, but I figured it would happen sooner or later... 3 seasons is a good run for a Doctor.
Then again, it could be a reset (Which I think is a-a cop-out, and b-passe since they did it as the season ender of last season!).
If it is a reset, I don't know if I'd enjoy it as much... I mean, come on! How many times are aliens going to take over the Earth and decimate the human race to only be have it set back to right and no one remember it! We need something like this as a planet to move forward in the galactic forum!
[ahem] Sorry... I'll get off my soap box now...

I have bits of theories floating around, but most of them involve Cosmic Reset Buttons. Which we've already used (twice), so part of me actually wants consequences. OTOH, David Tennant is my TV Boyfriend, so I'm reluctant to let him go.

I don't buy that explanation. I think it having been been an "echo" of a full regeneration, just as the Doctor said Jenny's having two hearts only made her an "echo" of a Time Lord, is more believable than it being the terraforming stuff working that late and that specifically after its release. But then there's lots of New Who writing that doesn't impress me.
Also, the hand only regrew because Ten had just undergone a full regeneration...
It was more than his having been through a full regeneration, it was his having been through the regeneration because of being suffused with the energy from the vortex which he spent so much of the special bleeding back out. Thing is, however, with RTD having brought "Bad Wolf" back up I'll be surprised if that particular reset button/Deus Ex Machina isn't revisited.
...they'd have to hand wave away Nine/Ten's explanation of how a regeneration works in New Who and retcon the Time War...
I'm hoping some retconning of the Time War is on the agenda, just not enough to fuck up Captain Jack Harkness's being a fixed point.

Also, a thought: River Song recongised the Doctor in Silence in the Library, but said he looked older: Maybe we'll get an older makeup DT? Or someone who looks like him? (Or, of course, a reset, but that would feel like cheating, no matter how much I love DT).
