Silly

So I was trying to explain the attraction of Doctor Who to [livejournal.com profile] mischief5 last night, who'd noticed the explosion of squee! this last weekend on her f'list. At some point, I used the phrase 'piñata of slashiness' and then it just got silly from there [g] I won't even begin to describe what we did to Duncan in the process! Some things are better left to the imagination.

In other news... hmmm, there is no other news!

There is no other news...

I hear ya! I've been reading the same page of this silly doc for 10 minutes and it still doesn't make sense. God save me from Stupid People!

I think she was talking about a document she's reading at work [g] Though I may be totally wrong there!

Sorry. Misinterpreted that. Feel free to delete as I did :)

Yes, it's a doc from work which does not make sense. Soory about the confusion, no harm intended!

Now. Did you get a chance to explain that *much* of it had to do with Captain Jack --who finally reappeared. And (Jack that is) deserves multiple posts about his loveliness and flirtiness and overall *everybody loves Jack"ness. :D

It was a much longer conversation involving Jack, the Master, the Doctor.... The pinata comment came fairly far in.

It was a momentous Squee! occasion! I haven't been that fangirly over something in ages. Was kind of nice :) Can't wait till Saturday!!! [rubs hands in anticipation]

It's going to be utterly and completely fabulous!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been this excited about a series in ages. RTD is a true master of the storyline. (And JB adds his own particular flair :))

I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] ninjababe and I scared our upstairs neighbours [g]

I'm still fairly baffled by it all. I did try to watch Dr. Who; I really did! It just didn't...take. Sorry. Although, JB is very pretty...

Not to worry m'dear. For some it takes; for others it doesn't. I've been there on multiple times m'self.

But keep an eye on my LJ. I'll be posting a vid or two there shortly for distribution and possible pimping.:D

I know. I feel like I'm missing major squee. And I tried to get into Dr. Who, but it just wasn't happening. I must just not have the *who* gene.

That's how I was recently with Blood Ties. Just couldn't get into it. Same with Heros. But we'd be boring if we all liked the same things! :)

I wonder if it's a thing you have to be infected with during childhood? I grew up with Who, it was my favourite programme as a child, and when it started up again, I began watching more for nostalgia's sake... I thought it was delightful, but I didn't start actually getting fangirly about New Who until mid-way through the second season - and the third season?

Well, I think I'm in danger of it eating my brain...

...and liking it, too :-P

I first saw it when I was in my late teens, in the video room at a con. Not long after, it started airing at midnight on Saturdays. Tom Baker's Doctor. Me or my mum would bake apple danish, and me, my brother and my mum would watch it. And they did two hours every Saturday.

When we moved back to CA, I started going to Who cons. I have a t-shirt that says 'So Many Timelords, So Little Time'.

*Laughs* And the cycle goes on, I've been minding a friend's son for the last few days (she's trotted off to Glastonbury, lucky thing)and he's a total fanboy (and six, in case you were wondering).

I've been really evil and let him watch some of my 'classic' Who DVDs, so he's now familiar with three, four and five (he likes Romana, by the way :-P)

He's even doing meta! He was watching over my shoulder earlier on, while I was on LJ, and remarked as he looked at the Doctor Who icons, ever so casually: "Martha is a survivor, because she's still alive, Rose just got sucked up!"

*snerk*

"Martha is a survivor, because she's still alive, Rose just got sucked up!"

Wise young man!

Do you know, I have an autographed postcard of the Master (Anthony Ainley) that he sent me in response to a thank you note I sent him after a con. He even wrote a nice little note with it.

Oh, that's so sweet, i never get that lucky - although, I did meet Paul Cornell a couple of times, as he visits the conventions in Dublin regularly. Does that count? Lovely bloke!

Love the icon :)

Have had that phrase going through my brain all week!

is it Saturday yet?

I think S3 starts in July on Scifi.

Yep, an honest to goodness piñata for those inclined to the slash side of fandom [g] Me, I like my Doctor Who old fashioned with no ship of any kind. No hanky panky in the TARDIS!
