What Was The Point?

So one of the prime reasons for me buying a permanent account was because one of the benefits was always having the max number of user pics available. Except LJ decided to change the rules after the fact, and now, these added user pic packages are somehow, known only to their logic, not a part of the deal. So if you have a permanent account, you have to pay for the extra icon slots. Do I really need 400 odd icons? No, not really, but it's the principle of the matter. I was sold a permanent account under false pretenses, and it ticks me off. If they think I'm going to pay for the privilege of having something that rightfully should have been mine to start with, they are sadly mistaken.

*nods in agreement* Yeah, I feel a bit cheated too. How come those of us with permanent accounts are automatically offered the extra icons and those with paid accounts can pay extra?

Okay, I'm losing you here. I know they were going to offer the extra user pic packages. mischief5 has been waiting on the carte blanche user pics forever and was quite pissed because it was taking so long. But I thought the permanent accounts came with 200 user pics which was more than the other accounts. But we can buy the carte blanche pics too. Not that I need anymore. I don't think anyway.

However, I also could be wrong so feel free to correct me. Basically I'm pretty happy with the account except when the scrapbook is running terribly slow like this morning.

On the other hand feel free to be pissed off. I'll give you a hug and a drink when I see you week after next.

We have the maximum available plus the max loyalty pics, so that brings us to 201. So AFAIC, we should now get the number of a la carte pics added at no cost because that was the deal. According to some of the comments I've read, apparently LJ has changed the wording in the FAQs on the subject, which further ticks me off since they changed it after the fact to try and weasel out of the original deal. At least, that's how I see it. Yeah, I've been generally happy with LJ, but this one has really got me steamed.

From what I've been reading, they've been doing that a lot. No wonder people are so pissed and moving to Dreamwidth. I'm sorry you were cheated out of what was stated in the original agreement. :adds another drink and a hug:

But if we buy 3 add-ons, we still have about 80 more userpics than someone with paid account and the add-ons.

I don't remember exactly what was said when I bought my permanent account though.

Yes well, that's LJ for you. They like to change the rules around to suit their fancy. I wouldn't trust 'em with my money!

(Which kinda sucks cause... I'd never leave LJ, and they COULD make plenty of money off me - I'd pay it, I really would... if I didn't fear being completely screwed over. And I wouldn't be worried about that if I didn't constantly see it happening to other people all the time)

I'm really ticked off with it because it was only last year that I bought my permanent account and I was really thrilled with the extras as well as not having to pay for adding on icons or to pay for my account again. Looks like I was wrong. *sigh*

I haven't run into the icon problem (as far as I know) probably cause I don't have the limit yet.

But the performance problems with the site lately? Ugh.
