I've been wanting to post since I saw it, but wanted to be less emotional. Now it's been a few weeks, I'm giving it a try.

Yeah, not less emotional.

(I even did a private post testing the cut, so I didn't screw it up)

We've lost control of our domain. Today, couldn't get email, out website was gone. t appears the company that always registered our domain for us is no more, after 18 odd years. When I did a whois, it says the registrar is some company I've never heard of. I've emailed that company to see what I need to do to get access back. But they're in Barcelona, so it'll be awhile till I hear, I'm sure. In the meantime, I've been switching notification emails to other addresses. But Dreamwidth, it appears, I've forgotten my password to, which means I can't change my email address. I've opened a support request, and hope I'll be able to prove I'm me. Keep your fingers crossed that this is resolved and I can have my domain back.

The Magnificent Seven con is going on as I type. For once, I planned in advance, bought early bird memberships before there were even any guests, blocked the time off, made hotel ressies. Yeah, that didn't work out. Vet bills, our car acting up again, and the current situation at work=I couldn't go. Am a wee bit bummed.

Have just slathered myself with sunscreen, going to take mum to work and while we're there, Nin and I may use the Natl Park pass to go take a walk in Zion NP. Depends on how hot it is up there. It's 96 down here, so we'll see. When I get back, need to make green chile relish for dinner and remember to cross post my 'Agents of SHIELD' ficlet from earlier in the week.

Good first: I got a mystery gift off my Amazon Wish List. There was no packing list inside, just the book, Salt, Sugar, Smoke - which is awesome!! I've already found several preserves recipes I want to try once the fruit that isn't apricots ripens!

We got rain yesterday!! And the temperature today didn't break 90! Yay! We've had a very active monsoon season this year.

Not so good: our car won't start again. Remember it had a mystery ailment in the spring, and we thought it was fixed, even though the mechanic wasn't certain it really wasn't the starter? Well, I did research on the early 2000s Impalas, and apparently, when it comes to the passlock system, they're lemons. Hundreds of complaints identical to ours. And no easy fix. I'm to the point that I'm afraid to use it on anything other than very local trips. For God's sake, we live in the desert, I have to be able to rely on the damn car! We're supposed to go to Colorado at the end of the month, only a 6 odd hour drive, but most of it is through the Navajo reservation, which is long long stretches of nothing but dust devils and the occasional wild mustang.

Loki -- the kitten -- has a hurt paw. The kittens like to stick their feet under the door, and one of the Bengals, Caffrey, not having a real idea that the little foot is attached to a live kitten, thought it was a toy and pierced Loki's foot with his massive foot and claw. Poor little mite :(

Then there's me -- some sort of multi-cat incident this morning had one run over my face, and now I have a gash from the corner of my eye to my cheekbone. Talk about panic/pain/lots of blood. Now, the area's swollen, and god only knows what colour it will be tomorrow. I'm very thankful it isn't my eyeball though :(

I couldn't get my Yahoo mail to display properly -- all the buttons to move to the next page were gone. So I closed my browser, restarted computer, thinking there was some issue with me. Still didn't work. So I started researching and it turns out THEY DID IT ON PURPOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My inbox is one long endless scrolling page. I could cry. I've been with Yahoo 13 YEARS! Almost all my non personal email is centered there. I can't even comprehend what it's going to take to try and switch to another service. I loathe Gmail, stuck with Yahoo, and this is what they do. Just trying to delete mail without the ability to do it page by page? ARGH!! And the icing on the cake? Their Twitter is preening over the change, links to the blog post about it, asks what you think, and guess what? comments are disabled. FAIL!

I hate being sick, even more so when I have weekend plans, which I so rarely do. But I did this weekend! We were to finish Parade of Homes this weekend. Did 20 homes last weekend, and had the final 8 for this one. If I feel better tomorrow, we'll try and get them all in, but right now, I feel like crap.

Getting sick. DO NOT WANT! Have taken more selenium, and am pleased red wine is an anti-viral. Haven't eaten a thing today but a piece of mince pie. And drunk two pots of tea.

We had a plumber coming Wednesday to put in a new hot water heater, but he never showed. Near the end of the day, he called to say he'd gotten held up on another job, but he'd be there Thursday morning. He finally shows up Thursday, mum says to hang on a sec while she locks the cats up, and he says, oh, I'm allergic to cats, I can't do the job. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're a plumber who is so allergic to cats you can't work in a house with them, and you didn't think you should mention that WHEN WE MADE THE APPOINTMENT!?!?!? So now, we have to find another plumber. That's when I remembered I'd been given a free membership to Angie's List, since they're new in the market here, and need to build up reviews. And thankfully, it isn't one of the sites blocked at work. I start texting mum the numbers of well rated plumbers. Unfortunately, most of them are waaaaay more expensive that stupid cat guy, and we'd barely put the money together for his bid. Finally, on plumber number 4, we got a bid that was more, but not so much more it made us faint. He was dumbfounded about cat allergy guy. So, at 8AM this morning, he was here, and we now HAVE HOT WATER!!!

So remember how I said we'd finally been able to get a range after two years of not having a stove?? Well guess what dies the day after it was delivered? The hot water heater. Unfreakingbelievable!!!!

Work has been so awful the last few days - the stress is affecting my health, my sleep, the whole package. I hope it gets better soon. I'm sure the neck/eye pain has been worse due to stress. It just made it almost impossible to function today.

I know, whine, whine.... Sorry.
ithildin: (Avengers - Nick Avengers Poster)
First off, our Avengers DVD is still in Vegas. Amazon has failed me :( I was so looking forward to the 45 minutes of deleted scenes!!

Second, I ITCH!! Sunday, I was cooking on the grill, and afterwards, I realized I was covered in bites. I'm thinking, from my research, either black flies, or deer flies. Now, flies have been really bad this year, since it has been a damp summer - even for the desert! But I was thinking house flies, since I've never been bitten by anything outdoors around here in five years. I've tried everything for the itching, from various over the counter things to folk remedies like baking soda paste to toothpaste. Nothing has helped. I'm having a bit of an allergic reaction - my ankle and elbow are swollen, and some of the bites feel hot to the touch. Not as bad as the reaction I have to mosquito bites, but enough to be miserable. Sorry, I just have to whine because it's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

Despite what I posted yesterday, that rumour had it there was something extra added to the end of Avengers for this week's re-release, there was not :( It was great seeing it again in the theatre, but a bit of a let down all the same.

I have loved the Firefox addon for years, but today, I started seeing ads everywhere. I investigate, and come to find they're allowing 'unobtrusive' ads. Except it seems that unobtrusive to them means all ads! GRR! Looked at some forum threads and followed suggestions, like installing the older version of the add on, but nothing worked. Someone suggested Ghostery, which I just installed, so we'll see how that works.

Haven't had a chance to read my f'list for a few days, tried to at least take a stab at it now, but I give up. My frustrating employee work situation has not gotten better, and my patience is slipping as my blood pressure rises. By the time I get home, after a ten hour day, I pretty much just get as far as the TV. And the wine.

Miss you guys, hope to get back into the normal routine soonish.
