Because I'm bored and curious and stuff [g]

What TV show - currently on the air - would you suggest I watch and why? Obviously, I may already be watching it and just don't talk about it, but maybe your suggestion will be what I need to push me over the edge! The edge of deciding to watch it as opposed to over the edge of sanity. Well, one hopes.

I'm not sure it qualifies as 'still in the air', but I've just finished first episode of British Sherlock 2010 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1475582/, and I'm absolutely excited! The fact that Sherlock there reminds me a lot of Peter Wingfield might be one of the reasons, though...

Rizzoli and Isles.

Because there can never be too many shows about women who are smart and funny and powerful and FRIENDS.

Well, since you're already watching White Collar, Covert Affairs and Leverage (I think)... How about Rizzoli & Isles. Both lead characters are strong, independent women, which is rare for tv.

It'll be back for three more eps next year from what I've heard. The first one was interesting, but we still need to watch the other two.

We saw a few eps of that, but lost all the ones we'd recorded when we had the DVR upgraded. We'll have to catch up at some point.

It reminded me a lot of Womens Murder Club, which I loved, but without the 'club' [g]

As you know, I'm a bit of a genre fiend, and you're already watching my more mainstream telly pregrammes, so I don't know if anything I'm watching will tickle your fancy, but I'm quite enjoying Haven at the moment, in a low key way. (Also, really loved Sherlock, but you've already been clued into that, and The Vampire Diaries are starting up again on the 9th, but that is more of a guilty pleasure :-P)

I have been having an absolute gigglefest over Chuck. The insane characters at the Buy More are always cracking me up. Granted I haven't caught up with the whole series yet, but season 1 was good, season two was AWESOME and I'm about to start season 3. Season 4 starts in 15 days so I have to hurry up and watch. And Adam Baldwin is always a plus! And you already watch White Collar, and Matthew Bromer (Neal) plays a character on Chuck as well.

Love Chuck to pieces! I've actually been watching it before it came on TV [g] They aired the pilot on the United flight I took home a few weeks before the series premiered. I was hooked. I actually started watching White Collar because I'd liked Matt Boemer on Chuck.

I think you're really going to enjoy what you haven't seen yet!

I am totally hooked on Sons of Anarchy and Fringe! Both start their third seasons this month!

Don't know much about Haven, other than what's been in the adverts I see in passing. Same with Vampire Diaries.

I know a lot of people like Sons of Anarchy, but from what I've heard, I'm not sure if it's something I'd like or not. But I'm willing to be convinced [g] I own the first season of Fringe, just haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Story of my life!

I'm curious about this show; any idea on where to rent it or watch it?

Date: 2010-09-05 09:08 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] dejla.livejournal.com
True. I also loved Women's Murder Club, but I tried the books and didn't care for them, which is also interesting.

Haven is strange and different, but I also like it (forgot it in the mentioning.) And then I also love Warehouse 13.

Warehouse 13 is a lot of fun. I have the impulse to ship Micha and H.G. Wells [g]

Come over to the darkside, young Padiwan, it is beautiful and slightly creepy over here :-P

Also, in other news, I've watched the Witchblade series for the first time (It aired in 2000/2001), and I'm feeling crushed because I missed this when it was in its prime and had a booming fandom. It is very weird and very awesome, and the characters are *extremely* memorable...

...so if you want to go vintage?

Breaking Bad. You'll have to go back and get the DVDs for the first two seasons, but trust me, it's worth it.

Dexter, because it's incredibly well-written and the premise is fascinating {at least to me}; about a serial killer who kills bad people. He lives by a code instilled in him by his now-deceased adoptive father.

Fringe, because it's an awesome science fiction show, and as my friend who got me into it said, "It's like 'The X-Files' with none of the slow parts, less aliens, and a cow".

Supernatural is a big favorite of mine. One of my favorite shows ever, with a perfect blend of drama and horror.

[Grins] It's like a dark and twisted fairytale - why aren't more people making stuff like this?

Also, in the gone-but-not-forgotten bracket, there is 'Wire in the Blood', a British crime procedural featuring a psychologist and a cop. I've been doing a rewatch lately, and it is really quite good - if you're in the mood for DLling!

Tried to watch Dexter - it's a little too violent for me :) Fringe, I have S1, but haven't had a chance to watch yet, SPN I've been watching since S1 repeats.

I just finished first season of Fringe and loved it. I'm actually going to try to find season two tomorrow. I'd also recommend Castle, if for no other reason then because I watched Firefly for the first time very recently and am head over heels with Nathan Fillion! ♥

Vampire Diaries and Sons Of Anarchy - both start up with new eps soon - Vampire Diaries very soon: next Thursday.

Both are fannish shows and have serial plotting, which makes them rather addictive, lol.

Both are fun shows.

I can't think of any recs for currently airing shows.
But maybe its time for you to do a massive rewatch of shows that no longer air?

I have no current must not miss shows, I've been watching a lot of real life crime drama stuff though, like Forensic Files. Those are always interesting and great for fic idea :)

I heard October, but can't remember where. Be warned though -- it ends on a major cliffhanger. I said many, many bad words. :P

Good series though. Quite fun. And Sherlock is very cute.

A high school chemistry teacher (Walter White) with a pregnant wife and handicapped son (cerebral palsy) finds out he's dying of cancer, and wants to find a way to make sure his family has enough money after he's gone. His brother-in-law is a DEA agent who mentions how much money people make from cooking meth. Walter finds out thatone of his old students (Jesse Pinkman)is a meth cook, and the two of them team up to make and sell enough to support Walter's family.

It does the "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" and "our actions have consequences" themes very well.
