Adventures In Old Norse

I haven't actually started writing it, but the urge to write that long thought about Loki story has been percolating in my brain, so I did some research last night. I need to name something, so was looking for some sort of Old Norse resource, and found an English to Old Norse dictionary (the internet, it is grand!). I came to discover that 'frost' translates to... 'frost'. Hmmm.... so do I use frost or some Norse word that would probably sound more magical LOL

Speaking of Norse, not long ago I saw a very odd film,Vahalla Rising, starring Mads Mikkelsen as One Eye.
'One Eye' is taken prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde and throughout the entire film Mads said nothing, as in not one word.
I still remember Mads as Tristan in King Arthur........amazing.
I did not care for him though in Casino Royale.

I was intrigued by this and went looking myself. I don't know if this (http://www.freelang.net/online/old_norse.php?lg=gb) is the one you used, by I entered "frost", and got two entries: one is indeed "frost" but below that there was "frost giant", which seems to be "hrímþurs". I don't know if you need just the word "frost", in which case I don't know. :) Maybe find a synonym and see if that can be translated into Old Norse. (BTW, our own word for "frost" is "mraz" :) . )

Needs to be frost, or maybe snow, ice, something along those lines. It's the name of a poison, or it will be LOL. So Snow Sleep, Ice Sleep... we'll see.

Is there a translation for hoar or rime? They are real words (I swear) for particular types of frost.

Oooh! Excellent idea! I totally hadn't remembered hoar frost till you mentioned it. I'll have to see if it's listed - might be to off the beaten track for the little dictionary I found.
