ithildin: (Taste of Summer)
I recently started watching 'Gordon Ramsay's F Word' on BBCA, and it's my new TV addiction [g] It's an odd sort of show, kind of a cross between Emeril, the Galloping Gourmet (yeah, dating myself) and a talk/chat show. What I like is that it's a cooking show with the assumption that there are viewers who can actually cook, so the recipe of the day segment isn't excruciatingly detailed like the average cooking show. In fact, the venison with red wine chocolate sauce I saw on last week's is going to be our Xmas Eve dinner! Yum!

Ramsay is a hoot and a half, and the segments in his backyard with the turkeys and his kids are adorable. What a brood he has (the kids, not the turkeys)! Then there's the segment where he goes to someone's home to teach them to cook -- that's another favourite. He really is an excellent teacher and is able to instill confidence in people that literally could only cook toast before (honest to god, that's what one woman told him). Of course, half the celebrities in the restaurant audience are unfamiliar to me, not living in the UK, but it's always interesting.

Anyone know if this show is still being made? The eps I'm seeing are from last year.

If that's the same guy I think he is, I like him a lot. He did a lot of work with the Food Network as a producer. I'll have to check it out. Thanks! :)

I only know him from Hell's Kitchen on FOX. I know it was a US version of his UK show, and that it's been played on PBS, but I've never caught it.

I remember the Galloping Gourmet from when I was a kid. He gave me the creeps.

He's got another series of "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares" on at the moment, where he goes into a teetering restaurant business and tries to sort out their problems (culinary, financial, image, whatever). It's amusing, but "F-Word" is better. Apparently that one's back for a Christmas special then a new series next year :)

My fav BBCA show is Cash in the Attic. Maybe it has to do with discovering hidden treasure, maybe it has to do with the auction aspect. I'm seriously addicted to it.
