What's With the Fireworks?

While I realize fireworks are part of New Year's Eve in other parts of the world, it isn't something I identify with at all here in my part of the world. For some reason, over the last few years, people have started setting off fireworks, the amount gradually increasing. Last night had a bumper crop and it scared the crud out of me! I'm not expecting the noise -- it's not like it's the Fourth of July, or Halloween when I lived in B.C..

So just idle wondering as to why we have people engaging in this sort of activity all of a sudden.

2008 Fiction Recap

After looking at the list, I guess I wrote more than I thought.

So this was the year of two shiny new fandoms for me! In the spring, I became obsessed with Iron Man -- mildly [cough] And that was followed later in the year by Magnificent Seven. How did I fall so totally in love with a ten-year-old show? I have no answer for that one. And along the way, I managed to merge my two new favourite fandoms with my beloved old Highlander fandom, and it was good! And I think it's a mixture you may see a lot of in 2009 - sorry 'bout that.

And yes, I'm lazy, so it's just a list, doesn't have all the Q&A bits everyone is doing. But if you want to ask me one of those questions in the comments, I'll answer. How that for a lazy compromise?

I really am going to try and write the sequel to Practical Applications this year, for those who have asked. Hey, I want to see what happens when Charlotte tells Methos about Tony too! Not to mention that whole going to Afghanistan thing.

Bleach

I hate how after you've been using bleach, the smell is in your nose and throat for hours after. Bleah!

I have totally cleaned out the large closet in the bathroom which had all our linens, plus Xmas and Halloween ornaments, board games, and most of my purses. I removed the floor to ceiling shower/bath caddy, I've bleached the grout and tiles in the bath, and have just done a second go round for the stubbornly stained bits. In between, I've nearly finished two companion fics, and betaed a short story during my rest breaks.

Back to the bleach mines....

I finished off two stories tonight, one 2000 words, the other 1000. I'm very pleased with them! But I can't post them till strangevisitor7 finishes posting her latest, The Truth Is Immortal. Both are tags of a sort to that story.
