ithildin: (Methos - Book=Hot)
Part of the British food order we got in last week was a big ol' box of Weetabix! I haven't had Weetabix in, oh... I don't know how long. Probably the last time I was in Canada, I guess. So I'm happily eating my little wheat scrubber sponges. That's how I always think of them [g] After that box is done, I have a box of Alpen, which I haven't had in even longer. Yes, I'm a woman of simple pleasures.

Now for Methos, who probably eats Weetabix too, look at the picture:

I found it via this post over on the Highlander LJ. Okay, the glasses? Love them! Very Randy Jackson. Though, is that an antenna on the side?

mmm Weetabix!

I always buy weetabix when I'm home visiting my mom in Canada :)

I am sadly lacking in a Weetabix icon *g* but here is an advert of temptation for your perusal!

Hi Ith! There's another shot of him from behind that shows what he's looking at. Those seem to be VR glasses that connect him to a communications system (explaining the antenna). Either way, they look spiffy. ^_^

Here's that other shot:

Thanks!

Did I miss something? I thought this was supposed to be set in a post-apocolyptic future where civilzation has collapsed? And they have VR glasses? That's kinda funny.

Yeah, and Methos is living a pretty styling life there in that posh villa with the fancy furniture for a place that's descended into chaos. *snerk* I know some folks that commented way back about the whole, "what the heck is the internet doing still up when the world has gone to hell" plot hole in previously discussed scripts. I guess that issue wasn't addressed in this film.

My take is that folks that planned ahead and got ready for a coming collapse (based on power shortages and transport issues) would have done things like horde fuel and made their residences self sufficient (or at least capable of power for short periods via solar/wind power and generators). If he's working with a group of others (for any reason) they probably have a network in a secure location that is up only certain times certain days.

Still, I figure this plot hole isn't as big as all of Highlander 2. ^_^

I have a feeling you've put way more thought into it all than the people that made the movie! [g]

All I can say is my fic post-apocolyptic future sure doesn't have internet and VR glasses! [g]

I don't know about that. My husband and I are just planning our own build that involves solar, wind, and geothermal so we will have our own power if someone else can't provide it. I'm also from a long line of farmers but am a computer nerd myself. My husband and I will NOT be going without technology if we can help it. So, that logic up there has to do with personal interest and very little to do with the movie. ^_^

But my idea of a post-disaster world doesn't include an internet or VR either. *shakes head*
