I've been reading the SFWA comm (it's been like a really rowdy panel at a con), and the short version was one of their elected persons berating published authours who put their writing up on the web for free. That's the very short version. So, in amongst all this, he called such persons "Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Wretchs". So of course, people made t-shirts. They're very cute!

Writing, like sex, is deeply personal and should be enjoyed by both parties. Going pro, in either field, would take much of the pleasure out of the act itself.
I'm not really saying professional writers are whores. But I might be saying that whores are like professional writers.
