So I'm watching Shadows which I haven't seen in years, and remembered that Cassandra wasn't the first Immie we saw with spooky mental powers. In this case, Garrick was actually mentally influencing MacLeod. So now I'm wondering, was Cassandra influencing him with her powers in the episodes she appeared in?

And I'd totally forgotten Mac played the piano.

Technically, he doesn't play. At least, that's what he keeps saying. =)

And I don't think we ever see him playing in any other episode, do we?

He may not think it's playing, but it qualifies in my book :) I think that's why I didn't remember it -- because it's the only time he plays? Though watch me be very wrong!

The playing in the opening scene is still in his dream, though, right? The other time with Joe, he only plays for a second or two, as part of the mental influence bleeding over into his real life.

At least, that's how I saw it. (I just watched it yesterday, myself. Slowly moving through them all again via Netfix.)

Not too long ago someone [livejournal.com profile] lemurgrrrl about Cassandra and why all the hate? I dislike Cassandra very much. But not because of Methos. I think she had every right to her feelings about Methos. Methos and Duncan both agreed.

My feelings about Cassandra mainly come from how she treated Duncan - which I explained here:

So the answer to your question - damn straight she manipulated his mind and actions using her powers. And then with Kronos she tried to :

Cassandra: You're getting tired. *sniggers* - Like a very bad hypnotist.

Kronos just laughed at her and so did I.

I totally believe she was in the first one she was in, that one where he killed her student for her. But I'm not sure about Comes A Horseman and Revelations.

Wow, I so need to pick up this series on DVD. One of these days, anyway; I'm still finishing up with the vast expanses (and expenses) of getting Stargate (SG1 and SGA), BtVS/Angel, Farscape, and The Pretender on DVD first.

Scarily enough, I actually thought about this as I was trying to sleep, and realized it was part of the mental manipulation. Took a while for my brain to catch up :)

Thank you, yes! A lot of my issues with her stem from the first ep she appeared in. I just kept thinking what if the roles were reveresed and it was a 13 year old girl and an adult man in those scenes. Always found it creepy. So forward to her coming back, and how she behaved around Duncan. It always stuck in my craw [g] I know I'd like to think that Cassandra was messing with his mind, although I don't know if I'm using it as an excuse to let Duncan off the hook... And all this before I've even had any tea this morning!

And well, I guess I should save some of this for later in the week!

Oh, and I'll try and go read your post on the subject at some point today!

I remember very little about the first ep she was in other than the creepy flashbacks when Duncan was a kid. I disliked the ep enough that I've never really sought it out again, I guess.

"And I'd totally forgotten Mac played the piano."

Mac plays the piano? When did that happen? I do not remember him ever playing the piano. I remember Garrick and the sick head games he used to beat opponents, but come one - the piano - Mac is tone deaf.
