ithildin: (Holby - Look)
Reading all the Torchwood posts around my f'list today really makes me miss having a TV show to squee over. I don't think I've had a good squee since Peter left Holby. Or since Addison left Grey's Anatomy. There's lots of shows I really enjoy watching, but none currently that get me all excited and abuzz, waiting impatiently for the next new episode, combing the net for spoilers, spending hours posting and commenting after every ep airs. It used to be such fun!

I know exactly what you mean. Maybe I'm just getting old.

:( I was just whining about two of my shows getting cancelled, only to find that a third one was axed, as well. I'm starting to regret not fully appreciating how great I had it when I looked forward to several shows a week, instead of feeling like I'm going through the motions out of loyalty.

Got to say, I'm trying to avoid wading through the squee because if I do that then I don't think meta-y thoughts and more importantly, I don't write fic *g* It's also the reason why I'm avoiding the deluge of screen-captures. I've improved by icon making skills but damn if a small batch doesn't still take 2-4 hours!

I know what you mean. There just aren't many really good shows on anymore.

I miss it too!

I was looking forward to having squee (Men in Trees and 24), so there is disappointment there. We may still get to have that squee, but it isn't happening Right Now, durn it.

(I am eagerly awaiting Torchwood on BBCAmerica, though, because I still haven't solved the how to watch downloads issue....)

When you do see Torchwood, feel free to come and squee at me.

Watching all the excitement and buzz really reminds me of when I was involved in Highlander fandom as it was airing. It's so much fun and I'm really enjoying it. Must remember to stop squeeing at some point and start writing again...

I was thinking that myself. That and just having been in fandom too long maybe.

I really miss the excitement of new shows. There are some shows I enjoy (House MD, SPN, Grey's), but they just don't have the excitement that Highlander did. And I loved watching Peter in Holby. I, too, was looking forward to 24 and Men In Trees. This has been a real let-down.

What was the third one?

Yeah, it can change so quickly.

Luckily, I rarely get hit by the 'must write fic for this show' bug. God knows it's hard enough keeping up with my dead fandoms!

For me, there's a lot of good shows, just not OH MY GOD, I LOVE IT! shows [g]

Yep, I was fully expecting MiT to reach 'squee' status when Peter showed up. It's a show I really love, and that would have been the little push it needed to make it squee worthy. It's been very disappointing :(

Hustle on the BBC (which, for my money, was the best written show on TV). *hugs my DVDs tightly*

You're right: it can change so quickly!
