Tonight's Torchwood.

Who gave Ianto a personality transplant?!?! I actually found him intriguing tonight. He was fricking snarky! Go figure.

I realized part way through the nagging familiarity was to BSG.

Is the show getting more violent?

And what's with Owen and the American TV pop culture references? Tonight it was 'Jessica Fletcher'.

This ep made me cry.

Another enjoyable episode.

I wondered that too about Ianto! I thought maybe I hadn't been paying enough attention in earlier eps and missed his snarky side, or something.

Nope, you didn't miss anything [g] The snark seems to have bloomed in him. I hope it keeps up!

For the first time I actually though Ianto was more than a piece of pretty cardboard.

Already these first to episodes are better than pretty much anything last season.

No, it's new! I liked it, although I'm suspicious about the writer's motives! First, they establish that Jack and he are officially dating, then make him snarky and amusing, and not so much a wet blanket...

He's going to be dead by the end of the season, ain't he? It's a Joss thing.

I loved his oneliners grin ;o)
I'd be interested to see what is left for the earlier 7pm showing next week after they cut it all out.

He really seemed two dimensional this time around!

Or maybe he's doing a Wesley? I remember last season I had suspicions he was leading Jack on to get revenge for him killing his cyber girlfriend, and I haven't entirely forgotten that.

And what was with Owen and plant watering?

That's right, they're doing a child friendly version this season, aren't they?

It seems like there's been less cussing, but more violence these last two.

Oh, that would be wonderful! But I don't think RTD is up to that level of sophisticated plot/character building (Come back, Joss, give us more Firefly/Angel/Buffy! Why have you left us?)

And what was with Owen and plant watering?

I know! Frigging, weird, isn't it? Triffids maybe? Might explain Owens personality changes - he's a pod person!

I hope he continues this way. the team could really use some snarky humor. Last series was rarely funny

You're probably right. At the time, I was trying to figure out just why Ianto, supposedly so in love with his girlfriend that he risked everything, would so suddenly fall into Jack's bed. One minute he's screaming in grief and the next he's making pocket watch innuendo. Made no sense. Even less sense was that there is zero chemistry between Jack and Ianto. The words 'wet dishrag' constantly spring to mind. So thinking that Ianto was playing Jack worked perfectly!

This still niggles me too - and if I remember correctly, the episodes were back to back!

*Raises hand* Yup, me too! I couldn't wrap my head around it; why would Jack be interested in him - but if he'd been a bit more like he is now, I would have happily gone along with it. I think they're doing a big rewind and rewrite of the characters this season, so to fix the mess they made last year.

About Ianto. Love his new personality. Still no spark, though. You're right about that, and it makes me sad.

About Owen. I laugh because Hubs noticed that before I did, and he never notices things like that. (Except maybe I didn't notice it because it's like background around this house. Hubs is always walking around with a watering can and talking to his plants - I kid you not!)

Maybe they're trying to give the crew a bit more spark, like someone else mentioned. Little late to give them personality now, but hey. Maybe it's a good idea if the show's going to keep on keepin' on.

Also *veers off topic* I heard there's a new House ep next week? Huh. Thought there was a srike or somesuch
