Dead Man Walking

I thought for a bit I was watching a Torchwood/Supernatural crossover! Look! Owen's a demon! Complete with black eyes and cloud things pouring out of his mouth.

The glove? Thing's more buff brother.

Is Owen still undead? I wasn't entirely clear on that bit. They said he still had the energy in him, but I wasn't sure if the death critter leaving him and somehow changed his status.

Can Torchwood keep Martha? Please? That would be so awesome!

I believe Owen is still a zombie. He will remain animated for as long as the energy he absorbed from the Death creature lasts and then he will return to being one of the unwalking dead.

I'm not sure but I got the impression that it was something that they were going to investigate in later episodes.

Oooh, I don't know about nothing. I'd say something good came of Rose-Bad Wolf raising Jack. I'm nervous about seeing "Dead Man Walking" though. "Reset" gave me a bad dream.

Yeah, but Rose-TARDIS brought Jack back to "proper" life. He's alive: he has a heartbeat, brain activity, working internal systems. Owen doesn't. He's a walking corpse.

Rose-TARDIS brought Jack back with a heartbeat, but she didn't bring him back "right". Jack spent the entire first season of Torchwood wanting to be "fixed". He told the Doctor when asked if he wanted to die he thought he did. Jack and Owen are different kinds of undead, but they both died and were reanimated. The difference is Rose-TARDIS "overdid", bringing Jack back forever, while Owen was brought back without vital signs.

I think part of the reason Jack was able to use the glove second season was the change of his own attitude towards death between first season and second. He told Gwen coaching her on using the first glove you had to connect with the person you were using the glove on to draw them back. Kind of hard to encourage someone to come back when your jealous of them for being able to stay dead. That, and Jack's feelings towards Owen were/are different than his feelings towards Susie were when he tried to use the glove on her.

you know, I was kinda wondering about Owen too, because everything else seemed to "reset," you know, like Martha didn't stay old and all that. But I re-watched this morning (was up early, whatever) and I am pretty sure Owen is still dead, he's just... animated.

I'm not real sure how I feel about this, either... Owen is my favorite character, I think, and I was a little leery of him accepting a date with Tosh cause I was like, crap, something bad is gonna happen now. And sure enough... yeah, dead Owen, that'd be something bad. So I guess my fear now is that instead of having a continually well developed character, Owen is going to be the gee-it-sucks-to-be-dead guy or something...

I guess we'll see...

I think you're right, he's just 'animated'. Will be interesting to see where they go with this.
