I'm going to try and work on 'Fondly' tonight, but I need to get into the right mind space. The rather lovely Malbec I'm drinking is helping with that :)

Tonight, I found a wine dealer here in California that sells Normandy hard cider. Something I've wanted to try for ages. I should have my bottles next week.

Did anyone else see the little ballroom dancers on Dancing With the Stars tonight? How adorable were they?!? I wish I'd been that poised at eight years old.

Ack! 'So Close' on the iTunes. I'm going to be weepy now. But that's probably a good thing considering.

Seriously, I need to cut my nails. They grow like freaking weeds, and they are all ready interfering with typing!

I have 4.5 nails left. The others have been chewed off. Hmmm that index finger is looking good right now!

I'll loan you mine. I actually injure myself sometimes! My hair and nails grow way too fast.

Suddenly it seems Malbec is everywhere. I have an opened bottle in the kitchen now.

I'd love to try the Normandy cider. English cider is a favorite of the sis's, and I used to love hard cider from upstate NY.

It does, doesn't it? This is the third bottle we've had, all different wineries. There's another wine I just tried that I liked too, but the name escapes me at the momentthat was a Meritage.

Cider is one of my favourite things. I really like K and Strongbow, and the American one I like is Woodchuck from Vermont.

We have a six-pack of Strongbow in the fridge now -- it's drier than Woodchuck. There's also a sweet Virginia cider, Shenanhoah. One of the local bars has Strongbow on tap, nice for her.

That's Magners on tap! Also Woodpecker, someplace nearby (correction by the sis).

That's why I like Strongbow -- the dryness. American ciders I've tried tend to be sweeter than I like. The Woodchuck Granny Smith one has a little bit of tartness.

The 'real' stuff isnt a bit like Strongbow or Woodpeckers - as CheeseWhizz to a mature organic Stilton. LOL
We have an orchard and used to make our own cider every year, we even tried the old fashioned way once, pressing the apples by hand in a wood press through straw. It was incredibly hard muddy work but we got over 600 litres.
You will find the best Normandy and Breton ciders are cloudy and almost completely still. The perfect drink chilled on a hot summers afternoon with some fresh bread and goat cheese or chocolate crepes.
