amonitrate has a wonderful essay on Tony Stark up here. I just found myself nodding over and over. Wonderful insight into the character and pegs so much of what fascinates me about him. And if you haven't been reading her IM fic, you really should. It is made of awesome :)

I'd totally forgotten what it was like to have a fresh new fandom to revel in. It has just been so cool. I think the last time I ever felt anywhere close to this was when PotC came out. Like IM, it was a movie I went to see with no expectation of more than an entertaining few hours, but ended up being totally enthralled. I wasn't on LJ then, so missed the group fandom aspect of it, but with IM, I have company! The interactiveness has just been so much fun. And the connections I've made with all the people reading my fic has been incredibly rewarding -- so thank you for that. I don't think I can adequately express my appreciation for all your kind words. Right now, it's just a joyful experience, with no long term fandom baggage, and I'm loving it! I thought I was long past the point of ever having another shiny new fandom, but I'm pleased to report I was wrong. And I finally have an OTP in Tony & Pepper! Who knew I had it in me?

I love that feeling of discovering a new fandom. Though I keep finding old ones but they are new to me and that means I avoided all the fandom wank that explodes in the beginning.

I am so glad you are writing Ironman - I love your take on Tony!
