Since they don't have a comedian hosting this year, I've decided to risk watching the Oscar telecast. Though I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a single Best Picture nominee (I'm not even sure what is up for that). I want to see the dresses, and things like the special effects winners, since those are movies I have seen! And RDJr is pretty cute in a tux.

Recording it on the DVR so I can start watching an hour and a half in and be able to forward through all the adverts and nonsense.

I have to recommend that you watch the beginning of the actual broadcast, because Hugh Jackman is just great! And actually, it was pretty well done this year. Different in many significant ways!

Oh, we watched it from the beginning, we just didn't start watching it till it had been on for 90 minutes. That way, we could ffwrd through all the crap and not catch up to the live broadcast.

And what did you think of it? Parts of it were good, and parts left me going "what the ----?"

I particularly loved Kate Winslet's comment about the shampoo bottle!

It's one of the few times I've actually enjoyed most of it. Thought Jackman was a great host. Loved the song and dance numbers, and the set design was lovely. The DVR cut out as the Best Actress was announced, but since I didn't see any of the movies nominated in the top categories it was no big :)
