I went through some old belongings of my father's tonight. One of the things I came across was a Book of Common Prayer and Hymns A & B that belonged to my great grandmother. The inscription was from my great great grandmother to her daughter, Christmas 1893. I unwrapped it from its cellophane and opened it and the page it fell open to was the Collects for Good Friday. I felt a wave of emotion and almost started crying. Coincidence or the Divine? I don't know, but whatever it might be, I felt the embrace of family and of God.
