And why are they on the cover of all those fine periodicals that you see at the checkout stand?

In other news, the jam I made last night turned out awesome! I'm pleased as it's the first time I've made it. [livejournal.com profile] ninjababe found a recipe for apricot butter that I'm going to try next.

Have vacuumed, dusted, and washed my floor and done other various cleaning things. Will do Nin's laundry a bit later, and make the filling for the ricotta tart I started yesterday.

They're famous because after Kate (she can't have kids without help, because of something that I can't remember at the moment) gave birth to twins, they tried one more time, because they wanted just one more kid--and unexpectedly had six more. So they became the stars of Jon and Kate Plus 8.

Their marriage is supposedly going downhill quickly, and the media won't shut up about it. According to the last few episodes, the papparazi is now stalking the kids--Kate had to tell them all to run. The 6 kids are 4 now. The twins (Maddy and Cara) are 7 or 8.

Meanwhile, Jon has decided he feels like he's in prison, so he went off to ski for a while. Leaving Kate to take care of 8 kids.

ETA: Supposedly, he was caught having an affair--but they claim it's just a family friend that was driving him somewhere. He also doesn't like the fact that Kate gets more attention.

ETA 2: Oh, and something else I almost forgot. People are wondering if they can go after them for child labor laws, which is stupid--they try to make it sound like the kids are being made to perform 24/7. The kids (I actually watch the show, so I know--the news reporters don't) get the opportunity to opt out. They don't have to be there all the time. And they aren't filmed at night.

And Mom just told me the problem Kate had. Her body doesn't ovulate. And the doctors consider what happened with her having six at once to be a disaster that wasn't expected.

I believe they're the parents of the octuplets, and they appear to be having marital difficulties. I could be wrong about that, however...

And I stand corrected. I had an idea that there were eight kids, though...

Most of the reason I know anything about it is because Mom got hooked on the show. Heh.

They have too many marathons on TLC.

Nobody you'd be interested in, trust me.

Some trainwrecks I have no interest in watching.

In a month or so my aunt will be making apricot preserve, too, though apricots will be coming from the market:). For me the most delicious thing in apricots preserve always have been grains, though they always ends faster than the preserve:). Even in classical recipe, when each grain, after extracting from stone, is placed back in the apricot:).

The grains?

Date: 2009-06-08 08:48 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] grachonok.livejournal.com
Yeah:). The seed is exctracted from apricot, then cracked like a nut and then the grain is put back in the apricot (if you have patience for that... My mother usually didn't:) ) or just throwed in the preserve. Actually, when my cousin was cracking the seeds, half of the grains didn't make it to the pot... :)

If you make peach preserves, I would be willing to pay you real money for a couple of jars. Mom used to make it and they were the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the history of the world! Yum!

We only have one peach tree and it's too early to tell what we'll get from it. Glenn says it hasn't produced well in the past, but he's hopeful this year's crop might be better. And no, you won't pay for it! If we end up with enough peaches for preserves, I'll set aside some for you :)

I know John and Kate Connor, who are trying to save the world from Terminators and the evil computer Skynet, but i don't think that's the people you're referring to.:)
