As some of you know, I have a gimpy hip. I took a fall backwards off a ladder painting a bathroom about twelve years ago, and hit the toilet with my back/hip on the way down. As with most injuries, some days are better than others. But lately, the pain seems to have been getting worse. I realized when we were in Tempe that a lot of it was caused by the ancient mattress I sleep on. When I roll onto my right hip , the pain wakes me up, so I haven't had a full night's sleep since we moved. That didn't happen when we were away. I knew the mattress sucked, but not that much. So I went mattress shopping today, and put a deposit down on one. We looked at a few places in St. George, but ended up checking out the new mattress place that opened locally. Got a good price plus free delivery/setup and they take away the old one. Yay! Can't wait till next week when I will actually have it home!

Wonderful for you. I, unfortunately, have bad shoulders that will drop out of joint while I sleep on a regular bed. So I sleep in a recliner. Actually sleep very comfortably in it.

Again, have good rest.

Ouch, that's terrible! My mother had hip problems for most of her life, and had to have hip replacement surgery for both of her hips. It was very hard on her.

I myself have problems with my lower back, and yes, depending on where I sleep it can be excruciatingly painful. Getting a new mattress is the best thing you could have done.

Ohhhh! There is just nothing in the world like owning a brand new mattress!

Three years ago my ancient bed fell apart, literally, which in turn finally made me go looking for a new one. The first new bed I have ever owned.

It is bliss, really helps my back and neck.

You will love having a new mattress!

I sleep in a recliner too - weight/joint/breathing issues which are getting better. I sort of miss the outstretched lolling (not LOL'ing[g]) that you can do in a bed, but the recliner is very comfortable.

It's quite amazing how sleeping *elsewhere* can make a person realize how bad our beds are - I hope your new mattress is awesome!

Yes, I envy that you get a new bed. My bed is ancient but it was free, so I got what I paid for. :D

Just *thinking* about how much that must have hurt when you did it makes me cringe. Good luck with the new mattress, and pleasant dreams!!

I know that I have to adjust my air mattress, every so often. Hip and lower back issues--scoliosis of the spine.

Do you take something along the Osteobiflex line for joint health?

A good mattress helps ALOT with hip pain. If not a new mattress, a foam mattress topper. That's helped me alot.

Massage/chiropractic can help too, along with glucosamine.

Hope it helps!
