A More Permanent Hell

I'm more than 5000 words into this, so decided to start posting since it's nearing completion. Just not sure how many parts it'll be broken into quite yet - 4, or maybe 5. With Iron Man III fast approaching, I really felt the urge to get this arc wrapped up.

I must have watched the scene in Monaco with Justin Hammer about 15 times to try and get the dialogue right. This is my first attempt writing a story set during a movie, so I hope you enjoy it!

"Well that was an entrance," Charlotte Sparrow observed wryly as she walked towards her friend backstage. Tony Stark had just opened the Stark Expo, and a Disneyesque video of his late father, Howard, had just finished. There were people scurrying to and fro, the area a hive of activity. "Phoenix metaphor? Really?"

( He gave her a crooked smile. )

"You've changed," Methos said quietly from behind her.

Charlotte's hand stilled, her eyes capturing his in the mirror of her dressing table. She shook her head ever so slightly, before removing the sapphire and white gold earring from her ear, setting it in a small crystal dish with its mate. "I disagree."

( He stepped closer, his hand reaching out, laying the palm against the curve of her throat. )

( Charlotte slid off her horse and into his arms. For a moment, he held her there against his bare chest, looking down into her eyes. Then he smiled, still not saying a word, as he dropped his arms, releasing her. She stepped back, holding the gaze, with a smile of her own. )

Too Young For Heaven ~ Part Three

Chris sat under the apple tree in the back garden, wrapped in a blanket, his feet propped up on a box with a cushion. The late afternoon sun had warmed him and he’d drifted to sleep not long after Ezra and Timothy, Charlotte’s oldest boy, had settled him there. This despite the nap Charlotte had insisted he take after he’d sat in the parlour, listening to Penny play the piano for an hour. Now he half dozed, watching Charlotte, who’d come out to join him a short time ago. Her lap was covered in lace, her head bent in deep concentration as she placed fine stitches across the fabric that would be Jemma’s bridal veil. ( Her oldest child’s wedding was in less than two weeks, and every time Charlotte was sitting, she was working on some sort of wedding finery. )

The beginning of this story may be familiar to some of you. I started posting this in 2009, and never finished it. I would add little bits here and there, but never really sat down to finish. Well, this weekend I did. The beginning has been rewritten somewhat, to better fit in with stories written since, so I'm starting fresh. Sorry you had to wait so long for me to complete this, grachonok.

New Mexico Territory, Summer, 1867

“If you want me to come, then of course I shall. But I think you overestimate any influence I might have with Chris.”

“Thank you, Charlotte,” Ezra said. After discussing the situation with Vin and Buck, the three men had decided that Charlotte might be able to reach Chris in that dark place he'd fallen into after his grievous encounter with Ella Gaines. And Ezra privately hoped that it might prove to be a much needed distraction for Charlotte, who seemed to be trapped in a darkness of her own.

She nodded. “Let me change and tell Charles and the children I shall be away for the day.”

( Ezra Standish cast a critical eye over his cousin as she threw the last of the feed to the chickens. The morning sun washed over her, giving him a sharp reminder of just how much weight she’d lost in the weeks since Methos had left.  )

When I said I'd love to read an Avengers/James Bond fic, and I listened to the new Adele song for Skyfall, this idea sauntered into my brain, and I went with it. I've never written James Bond before, so no idea how successful this attempt is. But I can always hope :D

The air was full of ash and dust, the broken building she was crawling out of coated in it, like her lungs. "Consultant," she muttered to herself in between coughs. Consultants weren’t supposed to be in the middle of alien 'incidents' – ( she was sure that was in her contract. )

Hey all - I thought a cheat sheet/summary of sorts might be helpful for those coming into these current stories with little to no knowledge of Highlander. Can you take a look and let me know if there's anything you think I should add? And if you're one of those readers who isn't all that familiar with Highlander, let me know if I covered everything you may have wondered about.

The small cozy fic won out, at least for now. This is going to be along the same format as my Pirates of the Caribbean serial, The Strangest Places, a series of short interconnected stories. I'd really enjoyed writing those in that manner, so revisiting the concept.

Warnings/Notes: Crossover/AU. Methos/OC, Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov implied, Methos & Duncan. This is set before The Avengers, and contains no spoilers for the movie. I can't quite remember what had me interested in researching Snow White, but I did, and came to discover that many cultures have a similar story, and that immediately bred a plot bunny. This is my take on the Snow White folktale with a Loki spin - is he Prince Charming, the Wicked Queen...or both? I'm using what happened in the tag of Thor for my jumping off point - Loki has spent some time spying on various SHIELD members, coming across some useful nuggets of intel to use against our heroes.
