From Yahoo News:

Fans of Holby City have a treat in store as a new face is set to join the wards of Keller and Darwin. Actor Peter Wingfield has signed a one-year contract to play Surgical Consultant Daniel Clifford.

The 43-year-old star is perhaps best known for the ITV1 drama Soldier
Soldier - which also launched the career of ex-Casualty actor Robson Green.

Wingfield's fansite revealed he is "very excited" about the opportunity of
being a part of the BBC drama.

It's not his first brush with all things
medical - he was studying to be a doctor at St Bartholomew's Medical
Hospital in London when, during the summer break, he spent time at the
National Youth Theatre of Wales.

Eventually, he decided the only type of bug he wanted to tackle was the
acting one, and a month before graduation, left university for a full-time
career treading the boards.

He got his big break in the 1997 TV series Noah's Ark, and over the years,
has amassed an impressive CV.

Wingfield's previous small screen credits include Smallville, Kingdom
Hospital, Touching Evil, Bliss, The L Word and Dalziel & Pascoe.

The actor also has a cult following, thanks to his portrayal of Methos, the
oldest living immortal in the Highlander series.

The Cardiff-born star reprised the part for the big screen, while his other
movie appearances include X-Men 2 and Catwoman.

He's also no stranger to soapland - for two years he played the wicked
Simon Pemberton on long-running radio serial The Archers.

When you posted that first bit of info about this I started watching Holby again - easy enough since our lodger likes it - and was pleasantly surprised. No sign of PW yet, though there is a consultant playing the "I hate you all and am going to move to Sweden" game :)

He just got to London last week, and apprently had appointments with wardrobe, makeup, and had to go view a surgery. Don't know when his first eps will air.

You're welcome! It was so cool to see him get a whole article in 'real news' -- or whatever you want to call it :)

The American version, not the UK one -- just an FYI :)

I really enjoyed that show. I likes Strange World alot too. I was given the entire series on VHS -- all the eps that never aired. However, I have a very bad feeling the box ended up in the garage in UT and I bet they've been ruined by the heat. Will have to see if I can find them in Oct.

ok....I just have the series that was aired in the UK and in the US on PBS. Robson Green did a very good job in it, IMHO.

Will have to look for the US version.
