ithildin: (QoS - Montoya Violin)
I have had the urge to revisit Queen of Swords, and my long neglected WIP after all this time. Unfortunately, a few idiots on ff.net really ruined the joy I had in writing that particular series, and about the same time, I became besotted with M7. So I just stopped writing it. But it's been on my mind lately. Why do I insist on writing in long dead fandoms? Worse, small, long dead fandoms? There are times I wish I could throw myself into a new fandom, but I fail at that for the most part. Maybe they just don't make TV shows like they used to.

I've been meaning to go watch QoS. I think I've got a few eps of it... so many shows to watch, so little time...

I can point you to the entire series if you're looking. Just let me know :)

Why on earth do you care what they thought about it?
If you enjoyed it, why not pick it up again?

I understand fully and can relate........I posted the first chapter of my LOTR tale on a group who proceeded to hack it to death because I had the affront to do an AU following the encounter with the orcs at the end of FOTR.
I had had a dream and wrote about it and had huge plans. I finished first chapter, which was quite long and actually have finished a second but now not sure if I want to try again. Maybe this time on ff.net.

The point of me droning on is GO FOR IT if it brings you joy.
I have actually been considering doing same for my tale.
My sister and brother in law, both writers and readers of LOTR, told me how good it was..........Perhaps I should have listened to them more closely and wrote off the trolls in that group.
:D

It just tainted it at the time. And then another fandom came along and the combo just pushed it aside. Believe me, if I didn't write because people didn't like it, I'd never write anything at all.

Sorry. I guess I was thinking it was something else, however, it would
not be the first time this has happened to me in this business known as LJ
:D

Well, would it be possible to do some sort of a crossover AU thing with Mag 7, by fudging the timeline? I didn't watch it regularly, but I did catch a few episodes here and there - my dad was more of a regular watcher.

Only if time travel were involved [g] Or the QOS characters were very old. Which isn't impossible of course. One of my characters in Transformative Variations is actually Tessa and Robert's great great granddaughter - I couldn't resist the little nod there [g]

What exactly is the time difference between The Queen of Swords and Magnificent Seven? Would it be possible for you to have the descendants of TQOS characters interact with the boys?

QoS takes place after the Napoleonic wars (there's a few flashbacks to the war in the series), I've set it at approximately 1818, since in 1821, Mexico declared its independence from Spain, and at the time of the series, it's still a Spanish colony. So it's a minimum 50 year difference, or as much as nearly 70 depending on where you date M7 [g] So yes, absolutely possible for them to interact with descendants.

Well, there you go. :) If you feel like it, of course!

I've been going through small fandoms to see what i have missed over the years and came across Queen of Swords. It looks interesting and am going to look it up.

I actually have read your stories for the fandom and like them. I hop that you do continue your WIP. I was getting interested in it.

I love flamers. I always post that I use flames to roast marshmallows in order to make s'mores. They seem to hate that leave me alone. I feel for ya!

It was a fun little show, and I'm extremely fond of it. I may pop in an episode or two today and see what happens!

I also write only in small, long-sleeping fandoms (unless writing a gift for someone who lives in a large, live fandom). I wonder, from time to time, what it is like in large, live fandoms! There was without a doubt a decade or so of glory days of genre television, and they overlapped with the glory days of syndicated television... and the high-flying days of the WB, as well. Series really were more appealing and, in a way, more in need of fans and fanfic -- that is, told with more gaps inviting imagination to pour in, fill up and smooth off. The "reset button" requirement had certain effects that are no longer in fashion.

I tuned in to Queen of Swords at first because I am a life-long Zorro fan, in all its incarnations. I didn't get deeply into the series, though, and only saw a handful of complete episodes. However, I once read a truly wonderful essay by swordmaster Roberta Brown, who doubled for the heroine; among other things, she ruminated on the history of women in fencing, and the constrictions of female apparel.

Queen of Swords never came out on DVD, did it? I'm also still waiting for Young Blades.

I had a small taste when I wrote an Iron Man ficlet back just after the first movie came out. OMG! It was like, now, I know what it feels like! Even my crossovers w/IM got hundreds of readers.

I adored the old Disney series when I was a child, and have always loved Zorro - even Zorro, the Gay Blade [g] QoS was one of those shows that just had some lovely 'moments', and Peter and Val were wonderful. It came out on DVD in Japan, and VHS. I got a production set of VHS tapes I won at a PWFC auction.

I *really* loved this series and any story you wrote in this fandom I would look forward to reading. One of the leads is a really handsome guy. And Montoya looks very familiar. As for the female leads I thought Marta and Vera Hidalgo were both smart and fun characters. Tessie would come in third for me.

I did reread the first two stories I wrote, and Nin's at work today, so maybe in between cooking, I'll watch some episodes and see where it leads me [g]

I wonder if that handsome guy ever did anything else? [snerk]

I watched a few eps and you may guess the reason I did it:) (considering the series weren't showed here), but I must admit I didn't like Tessa much, to me Marta was much more interesting character.
