ithildin: (AS Misc - Not Amused MIOBI)
I went to the official Lost Girl site and am now annoyed. I can't access the site period because I'm not in Canada. I'm not trying to watch clips or episodes, mind, just reading general info on the show. Not allowed. DENIED! It seems a wee bit extreme, don't you know. Even the BBC lets me read about Doctor Who [pouts]

So, can one of my Canuck peeps tell me if there's any character bio info to be had? I'm in potential fic writing research mode :)

Bo

Bo was born of Fae blood but is a rarity in their world. Raised by humans, she spent her idyllic, small town youth without a clue as to her true nature: that of a Succubus, mythological beings who must seduce mortals and feed off their sexual chi-energy to survive. Bo's traumatic, accidental discovery of her abilities as a teenager forced her to leave any semblance of a normal life and embrace a vagabond existence. She's been moving from one city to the next ever since, unable to control her feedings and leaving a trail of dead in her wake.

Once Bo realizes what she is and learns of the existence of the Fae clans, she's through running. Bo resolves to discover the truth of where she came from, and why she was abandoned. Not sure who to trust, she rejects the Fae clans, embracing her independence and becoming an unlikely protector of both Fae and humans in need of her unique skills. With the added help of her human con-artist best friend, Kenzi; the scientific talents of Lauren; and the ever watchful eye of Dyson, Bo must learn to control her Succubus nature and adapt to a dangerous supernatural underworld she never even knew existed.

Dyson

Dyson is Light Fae, and in his own way, is just as mysterious as Bo. A veteran detective on the human police force, he and partner Hale use their combined skills to quietly protect the secret of Fae existence from inadvertent human discovery. When this brings him into contact with rogue-Fae Bo, Dyson grudgingly takes it upon himself to watch out for her and explain the complex Fae rules to Bo... as she proceeds to break them all. Preferring to be solitary and unattached, Dyson's relationship with Bo is increasingly complicated and intense, in a love-hate, sexually destructive sort of way.

A stoic and talented detective, Dyson is proud, ruthless, inescapably masculine, and definitely not easily given to love. He's an old, loyal, Light Fae soldier with his own tortured history that he never speaks of, even to Bo. But Dyson has clearly taken lives before and will again – without joy, maybe, but also without much regret. There is no evil or sadism in him, just pure, raw, strength and a selective, individualized sense of morality.

Kenzi

Kenzi, above all other things, is a survivor. Resilient, resourceful, and smart, Kenzi can keep a straight head no matter the problem, and her courage and wits make her an asset to Bo even when her human-sized physicality make her a target. Kenzi's also just fun for Bo to have around: her humor is droll and world weary, even at her young age: nothing can shock her, and she's even more street smart than Bo -- and far less trusting.

Kenzi has had pain in her past, but unlike Bo, she refuses to dwell on it. Instead, she keeps moving; mind on the next deal, the next con, next heist. With the soul (and heritage) of a former Eastern Block/communist-regime kid, she's prone to do whatever it takes to survive. Money and security are very, very important to Kenzi - the next most important thing to her, actually, other than Bo. Young without being naive; Kenzi is Bo's perfect foil and confidante.

Now you know how we feel. For most shows we can get some info and watch eps online at the Canadian station sites (tho Global has been craptacular in that respect). However anything on TNT, USA, SyFy (still a stupid acronym), HBO, Showtime, AMC - not happening any time soon.

eg. Showcase just started showing S1 Burn Notice last month.

And because the stations are just broadcasting, not producing, there's very little show-related stuff.

But that whole blocking thing is just Showcase being pissy little bitches. :)

I said in the post I was used to this from the BBC, but I wasn't trying to watch anything. I wasn't complaining about that aspect, I understand why they do it. It was the blocking of even text that I found odd.
