I guess I'm all backwards, but it's been an odd week. My cousin died Monday, he had tongue cancer. On Saturday, my uncle called my mum to tell her that his son had been given three months to live and he was on his way to Saskatchewan to be with him. This after getting an initially encouraging prognosis on his last visit. So from one month to the next, he went from, it should be fine, to you have three months to live. On Monday, three days later he was gone. Now, I hadn't seen him since we were kids, we all live so far away, but my uncle and his wife visit us every few years, and my cousin was the same age as my brother, and it has really hit mum hard. So it's just been... a week. All of it can be taken away in a heartbeat; you know this, but some days, it hits home more than it does others. And I'm all over the place the last few days. So if I make less sense than usual, well....

I understand some of what you have to deal with.
My mother lost her sister a year ago. Her brother died two summers ago.
This January she lost her last cousin, so she is the last of her age group from her family/first cousins. There may be some second cousins but I'm not sure where. Then a week after losing her last cousin, that cousin's middle daughter died from Multiple Myeloma. The last cousin's husband died two years ago and the daughters deferred the memorial service because they didn't expect their mother to last another 3 months with her COPD and felt that would be easier on them to have one memorial service. It just goes to show.
Needless to say this has been an interesting January.
