Taco Writing

In between making Navajo Tacos, I'm writing - surprised me too. It's a companion piece to The Strangest Places, though this time, it's Methos and Charlotte's first meeting. Seems like instead of one big story, this is going to be a set of interrelated ficlets. Though I still think the story of Charlotte challenging Jack to a duel will be a story told to Tony after he finds out about Immortals.

Navajo tacos sound intriguing. What's the recipe? (Think they'd go down very well here in deepest Yorkshire. ;-)

It's basically a taco on Fry Bread. If you do a search for Fry Bread recipes, you'll find lots (http://www.manataka.org/page180.html). Very basic, flour, baking soda, liquid, fried in oil or lard. There are recipes with yeast, and without, and tried the non yeast one last night, and had much better results.

My filling is onions, a little garlic, ground meat, a tin of pinto beans (I usually do two tins) and the recipe I have calls for prepackaged taco seasoning, but I use my own mix: mexican oregeno, chile powder, chipotle powder, salt, pepper, cumin all to taste.

You make the fry bread, then you can put a layer of shredded lettuce, the meat, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, guacamole if you like, so it's sorta like a pizza. or, if the fry bread is big enough, you can fold it over like a taco.

Mmmmm.....I've never had fry bread or even heard of it, but it sounds delicious, and I'm definitely going to make this recipe soon. Thank you so much for taking the time to pass it on to me.
