10 Favorite Cherry Blossom Festivals

My sentimental favourite: Golden Gate Park, Japanese Tea Garden, when I was ten. My third grade teacher took me and two friends there as a going away present before we moved to Canada.

Japanese Tea Garden?

You mean there really is a Japanese Tea Garden at the Golden Gate Park? I thought that Seanan McGuire made that up for her October Daye books!

They are ALL blooming along the esplanade which is next to the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
It was a sight to behold last Wednesday but shortly after I arrived home there was a TWENTY minute hail storm which I am sure stripped those trees.
By the time it was over I had 2 inches of what looked like snow in my yard.

The last time we were at the Japanese Tea Garden was before our youngest was born ... November 1986 or so ... after we had Thanksgiving with my grandmother at her Portola Valley retirement home.

The girls (now 26 & 28) were in their best Polly Flinders dresses. Yes, its been a bit.
