ithildin: (AS Misc - Not Amused MIOBI)
I grilled chicken I'd done up in a Greek marinade, plus homemade tazitki, and mum made an apricot custard tart. Then Nin and I walked to the edge of the canyon to see a bit of the fireworks over in Hurricane. And then we watched Iron Man. So far, so good. It was late, I hear more fireworks being set off, then shouts, I get out of bed, look out the bathroom window and the hillside's on fire. Thankfully, all the surrounding homes got out hoses and the people who'd set it on fire above had shovels, and it was out out before it got out of control. The fire department finally arrived and hosed it down for good measure. Scared the crap out of me. And I'm very tied today.

THIS is why it scares me when they whip out their batch in the neighborhood.......I am concerned as they sail around in the neighborhood that one might land on a roof, start a fire, enter an attic and spread through the house, as happened in this area recently. Had it not been for an off duty police officer returning home, the family might have died.......but he saw the smoke. It all began on the roof, entered the attic and spread quickly throughout the house, a TOTAL loss but thank God family of 5 survived.

EEK! I'm glad you're safe and nothing happened to your house/property. *hugs*

We lit a small patch of grass on fire here this year, heh. But one of the boys doing the fireworks put it out by stomping on it in his boots on covering it with dirt (which we have plenty of).
