I keep sitting down to use the computer, forgetting that the internet is down. Some stupid construction company cut through the fibre optic cable and there's no eta on when it'll be repaired.
My sister's sister in law told me yesterday her husband's daughter who is in NY said it has been two weeks without power now............from that freak snow storm.
When we lived on Taiwan we were without power for quite sometime due to a powerful, Cat 5, typhoon which hit. Gloria positioned herself over Taipei for 12 hours doing her thing. We were left with FEET of water in the downtown area and part of it was not only due to Gloria, but the authorities opened floor gates on a dam above the city. Fortunately we lived in the foothills near Taipei but we had no power........... It wiped out the compound including the commissary which we bought our groceries from, so we were getting food, water etc. out of semi trucks which had come from Japan. I still remember her.
"Oh, gee, what do you suppose this cable thing here is? Oh, well, can't be too important and I HAVE TO DIG HERE. So, let's dig."
Ran through the same thing a few years when they were rebuilding a floor of my then-company and the network kept shutting down because some doofus kept unplugging the power cables to plug in his nailgun or something like that.
